The Owl House's Story So Far

Luz with her hand in a paper bag as she, Eda, and King sit on the sofa in The Owl House

On her way to a juvenile detention summer camp, teenager Luz Noceda accidentally travels through a portal into a magical dimension, the Boiling Isles. Here, she befriends Eda, a rebellious witch who takes Luz to the titular Owl House, Eda's home. Eda promises to get Luz back to her human home if she agrees to help her and her roommate King -- the self-proclaimed king of demons -- on a mission to recover King's crown. Eda holds up her end of the deal, but Luz begins to feel at home within this world and decides to stay and practice becoming a witch. She's able to text her mom from her phone and leads her to believe that she's in fact at the "Reality Check" camp her mother sent her to.

Luz begins to learn magic from Eda, using glyphs, before eventually attending Hexside School of Magic and Demonics, where her friends Willow and Gus go -- and also Amity, the school's top student and Luz's love interest. Eda had dropped out of Hexside in the past and never joined a coven. Eda's sister, Lilith, ended up as the leader of the most high-ranked coven -- the Emperor's Coven. Lilith continually makes life difficult for Eda, badgering her to join the Emperor's Coven and trying to arrest her, per the Emperor's command. Eda suffers from a curse she received at a young age, which causes her to turn into an owl monster. It's revealed late in Season 1 that Lilith was actually the one that cursed her.

Emperor Belos has promised Lilith that he would heal Eda's curse if Lilith was able to get her to join his coven -- meaning Eda would succumb to his rules and not use magic freely -- or Lilith would be banished if she failed. Of course, this was a lie. Belos captures Lilith, King and Eda and plans to petrify them unless Luz gives him the portal to the human world, for reasons yet unknown. Luz agrees but instead uses magic to destroy the portal -- her only way home. Luz, Eda, King and Lilith escape and Lilith casts a spell to share Eda's curse -- redeeming herself but weakening their magic. Meanwhile, Belos begins reconstructing the portal to the human world from its remains.

Does The Owl House Season 2 Have a Trailer?

The Disney Channel recently released the trailer for Season 2 of The Owl House, which will feature a brand new intro. The two-minute trailer opens with Luz recording a video message for her mother, explaining her most recent experiences and how she destroyed the portal to return home in order to save Eda. She promises that she'll find a way back to her though, planning to discover any mysteries about her portal key.

40 seconds into the trailer, it turns to a flurry of scenes cut together in a montage set to intense music. We see all the fan-favorite characters from Season 1, new outfits, several new characters, plenty of monsters and beasts, some genuinely creepy shots, magic galore, and it all ends with Emperor Belos having rebuilt the portal. And yes, there are some gems for the Lumity shippers.

Creator Dana Terrace said on Twitter that this is the "least spoilery trailer" they were able to cut together.
