Disney Opens Up ‘The Jungle Book’

The Jungle Book is reopening for business.

Heat Vision reports that Disney is developing a live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic short-story anthology. The Jungle Book, which Disney previously released in 1967 as an animated film, centers mainly on Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves and a friend to many other animals in the jungle, including the bear Baloo and the panther Bagheera. Justin Marks is penning Disney’s new adaptation, with no further details known at this time.

But it’s not the only Jungle Book-inspired project floating around right now: Warner Bros. has tapped Steve Kloves, writer of the Harry Potter films, to script a movie about Mowgli and his adventures as well.
