Marvel Studios does not yet have a return date for filming.

Like the rest of the industry, Disney's movie productions shuddered to a halt roughly a month and a half ago, as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic spread across the globe. Now, in a recent conference call, Disney CEO and Bob Iger successor Bob Chapek announced the studio has "no projections" about when filming may be able to resume, on Marvel films or otherwise.

However, Chapek did note that Disney will take certain precautions against COVID-19 when filming is allowed to resume. "We will be very responsible in terms of masks… when we proceed," he said.

Additionally, he compared Disney's approach to resuming production to its park reopening plan. "Same process with our large-scale productions as we are doing with our theme parks," he confirmed. That is to say, Disney will wait for the go-ahead from public health officials before reopening productions and the parks, and strict safety measures will be enacted when that eventually happens.

In the wake of the pandemic, Disney has already pushed back nearly all of the film on its Marvel release schedule, which in turn affected the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters films. For instance, Spider-Man 3 was pushed from July 16, 2021, to Nov. 5, 2021. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 slipped from April 8, 2022, to Oct. 7, 2022. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness moved to March 25, 2022. On the other hand, Love and Thunder was moved up to Feb. 11, 2022, one week earlier than its previous release date of Feb. 18.

Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow -- the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, O-T Fagbenle as Rick Mason and Rachel Weisz. The film arrives in theaters Nov. 6.
