Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that could be a great time or an awful time (usually depending on whether someone is single or taken). On the other hand, watching certain movies to set the mood can brighten anyone's mood, no matter how bad it can be.
Disney, for instance, has a variety of entertaining animated movies that will be fun to watch with the entire family or just as a couple because of their romantic storylines. The best part is that these stories are very diverse, so there will definitely be something for everyone.
10 The Princess And The Frog (2009)
The Princess and the Frog is known for being one of the last traditionally-animated Disney movies, but beyond that, it is actually a very good cartoon about a girl following her dreams no matter what.
Set in the 1920s New Orleans, it follows a young waitress named Tiana who works towards her dream of opening her own restaurant. Unfortunately, she kisses a prince who was turned into a frog, activating the magic spell so that she becomes a frog herself. The rest of the story sees the pair attempting to become human once again.
9 Sleeping Beauty (1959)
Sleeping Beauty is one of Disney's earliest works and has somewhat been forgotten nowadays with the popularity of other princesses. Still, it's a pretty good movie and a great watch, especially considering that its live-action remake Maleficent has been attracting a lot of attention nowadays.
The story tells of an evil fairy who is snubbed by the royal family, so she curses the princess in revenge. The curse can only be lifted by a princess who is aided by three good fairies.
8 Hercules (1997)
An underrated movie from the Disney Renaissance of the 1990s, Hercules is not the most accurate adaptation of Greek mythology, but it's definitely a fun ride with loads of memorable songs and hilarious jokes.
The story follows the legendary hero Hercules, the son of Zeus who finds himself in the mortal world and must now prove that he is worthy of being with the gods.
7 Tarzan (1999)
Another movie from the Disney Renaissance (and the last one of the period), Tarzan was innovative with the technology it used to animate certain elements of its setting.
Based on the story Tarzan of the Apes, it follows a young man named Tarzan who was raised by gorillas and discovers he is human after the island where he lives is visited by a group of English explorers.
6 Cinderella (1950)
Among the Disney princesses, Cinderella is by far the most popular simply because of her classic appeal and her rags-to-reaches story.
Cinderella is based on a folk tale about a girl of the same name who lives with her evil stepmother who prevents her from going to the important ball. Cinderella then gets help from the Fairy Godmother and her mice friends to attend and meet Prince Charming.
5 Lady And The Tramp (1955)
A good love story does not necessarily have to be between two people - sometimes, two dogs can be even more romantic with each other which is proven by Lady and the Tramp.
Based on the 1945 story in the Cosmopolitan magazine titled "Happy Dan, The Cynical Dog", it tells the love story between a Cocker Spaniel called Lady who lives with an upper-middle-class family and a stray mutt called Tramp.
4 The Little Mermaid (1989)
The Little Mermaid is often considered to be the first movie of the Disney Renaissance era which brought back success to the studio and helped it to start making popular animated movies again.
Based on the 1837 fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, it follows a young mermaid named Ariel who spends her days dreaming of the human world beyond the sea. After saving a prince, she makes a deal with the evil witch Ursula who gives her legs in return for her voice.
3 Tangled (2010)
One of Disney's most recent releases, Tangled has become a beloved movie among fans and casual viewers alike thanks to its lighthearted atmosphere, lots of absolutely hilarious jokes, and extremely memorable songs.
Loosely following the story of the German fairy tale Rapunzel, it tells the story of a princess with long magical hair who was stolen and brought up in isolation by a woman who pretends to be her mother so she can use the power of Rapunzel's hair.
2 Beauty And The Beast (1991)
Celebrated as one of Disney's greatest movies ever made, Beauty and the Beast is definitely a classic that is beloved by all generations and people of different backgrounds.
Based on the 1756 French fairy tale of the same name, it follows Belle, a young woman who loves to read and is misunderstood by those around her. By the will of fate, Belle finds herself in the castle of a prince who is cursed to remain in the form of the Beast until someone truly falls in love with him.
1 Aladdin (1992)
Mostly remembered for Robin Williams' performance as Genie, Aladdin is one of the most entertaining Disney animated movies thanks to its grand adventures, iconic songs, and unforgettable characters.
Loosely based on the Arabic folktale of the same name from the One Thousand and One Nights, it tells the story of a street urchin named Aladdin who finds a magic lamp with a genie inside.
