Disney has hired music-video and commercials director Brian Beletic to helm its mountain-climbing action-adventure movie, which contrary to initial reports apparently isn't closely tied to the Matterhorn theme-park ride.

According to Variety, the film, which at one point was called The Hill, is an origin story about a group of five young explorers brought to the Pennine Alps (where the Matterhorn is located) for skiing, snowboarding and mountaineering across the perilous landscape. In the process they "uncover a mountain secret that may cost them their lives while facing off against a covert organization with a long, yet secret history of global exploration." Earlier reports mentioned the inclusion of a Yeti.

The script was written by Jason Dean Hall, who penned the 2009 Ashton Kutcher movie Spread. Brain Farm Cinema, which created the 3D snowboarding movie Art of Flight, will serve as production consultant.
