Director Joachim Rønning has announced the completion of production on Disney's Maleficent 2 with a photo of the sequel's crew.
Arriving May 29, 2020, the film stars Angelina Jolie, Ellie Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein, Jenn Murray, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, and Brenton Thwaites, who replaces Harris Dickinson as Prince Phillip.
That’s a wrap on Maleficent 2 - and what a ride it’s been! A big thank you to this amazing UK crew for spending the summer with me at Pinewood Studios - so close to Heathrow, yet so far away :) I hope you all get some well deserved time off before your next adventure ✨✨✨ #maleficent2 @disney
Released in 2014, the first Maleficent became the fourth-highest grossing film of the year, and provided star Jolie with the biggest box-office success of her career. The film's commercial performance helped to usher in other live-action remakes of Disney animated classics, including The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. On the horizon are Mary Poppins Returns and Dumbo, set for release later this year and in 2019, respectively, followed by the likes of Mulan, Lady and the Tramp, and The Little Mermaid.
