Scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis hyped up the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie, based on the popular Disney ride, with a tasty analogy.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Halloween Ends actor compared the new film to cooking. "I barely cook," she said, "I attempt cooking all the time, and it's all ingredients, and then the mix and the time, and it's always hard to know, are you going to make something yummy? And from what I'm seeing, and what I've heard, [director Justin Simien] has made something yummy." She added that Haunted Mansion is both "modern" and "fresh," and "scary like a Disney ride."

Haunted Mansion may be one of many Disney projects in Curtis' future. The actor revealed that she wrote the company requesting that they put her in a Freaky Friday sequel. "Let me be the old grandma who switches places," she suggested. "So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who is still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon."

Haunted Mansion's Star-Studded Cast

Curtis isn't the only legendary actor in Haunted Mansion. In Sept. 2022, Stranger Things' Winona Ryder was brought on board the ride, alongside formerly established cast members like Loki's Owen Wilson, Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy, The Morning Show's Hasan Minaj, Sin City's Rosario Dawson, Sorry to Bother You's LaKeith Stanfield, Suicide Squad's Jared Leto, Girls Trip's Tiffany Haddish and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Danny DeVito.

Haunted Mansion was announced in 2020, with Rideback's Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich producing. The adaptation follows another Disney film based on the ride, released in 2003. Rob Minkoff directed the film, starring Eddie Murphy, which was critically panned. Guillermo del Toro was also intended to develop a Haunted Mansion-based adaptation back in 2010, but ended up leaving the project.

Haunted Mansion is just one of the varied projects Disney+ currently has in the works. One anticipated feature is Strange World, an animated film which stars Nightcrawler's Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a man who is forced into an intergalactic mission by the president for a top-secret quest. Also in Strange World's cast is Fairfax's Jaboukie Young-White and The Day After Tomorrow's Dennis Quaid. The film hits theaters on Nov. 23.

Haunted Mansion is scheduled to arrive on the big screen on March 10, 2023.
