Disney+ has set an official premiere date for Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Season 2, which will take viewers behind the scenes of all eight episodes of The Mandalorian's second season.
Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Season 2 will kick off with an hour-long "Making of Season Two" special on Friday, December 25, a week after The Mandalorian Season 2 finale streams on Disney+. This season will feature "immersive on-set footage that places viewers right in the middle of the filmmaking process, and rare insights from the cast and crew" about the making of Season 2, including "early concept art" and "groundbreaking technology" introduced on the show.
The Mandalorian Season 2 saw the return of the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett, along with the live-action debuts of fan favorites Bo-Katan Kryze and Ahsoka Tano from the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels TV shows. Season 2's directors include series newcomers Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez, along with co-star Carl Weathers in his directing debut on the show. All three of them are expected to participate in discussions about their experience in Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Season 2, along with returning Season 1 directors Bryce Dallas Howard and Rick Famuyiwa, showrunner Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni (who also helmed episodes in Season 2).
Season 2 of The Mandalorian will conclude with the finale, "Chapter 16," on Disney+ December 18, with Season 3 currently in the works for a December 2021 premiere date target. Last week, at Disney's Investor Day 2020, Lucasfilm also announced plans for the spinoff shows Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic, which will take place in the same timeline as The Mandalorian. All three series will ultimately culminate in a "climactic story event."
