Disney Eyeing Four Directors For Fifth Pirates Of The Caribbean

It's full sail ahead as Disney's looking to launch the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie -- just as soon as it finds the right director.

In January, the House of Mouse hired Jeff Nathanson (Tower Heist, Catch Me if You Can) to write the script, and now, according to Deadline, they've got four potential candidates in mind to direct.

The site reports that Disney is looking at Fredrik Bond (The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman), Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman) and the directing duo Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki). Word on the street is that Rønning and Sandberg are the frontrunners, but no offers have been made yet. The film is expected to start shooting late 2013/early 2014.

The previous entry in the franchise, On Stranger Tides, starred Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane. That film was directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago) and grossed over $1 billion worldwide.
