Just days after it was revealed that Warner Bros.' upcoming DC film Wonder Woman 1984 would premiere in theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service concurrently this Christmas, it now appears that Disney is thinking about premiering certain upcoming films on Disney+, in lieu of theatrical premieres.

According to Deadline, Disney is considering debuting the live-action films Cruella, Pinocchio and Peter Pan and Wendy on its flagship streaming platform, as opposed to the theatrical premieres that were originally envisioned when the films were first greenlit. That being said, Deadline explains that no final decision on the matter has been made as of yet.

Of course, Cruella, Pinocchio and Peter Pan and Wendy debuting on Disney+ would not be unprecedented. In light of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the streaming service is no stranger to debuting new Disney films. At this time, however, it is unclear if -- should they premiere on the platform -- they will be automatically available to subscribers, like with Pixar's Soul, or require users to pay an additional fee, like with Disney's live-action treatment of Mulan.

Based on the 1961 animated film One Hundred and One Dalmatians (itself based on the 1956 novel by Dodie Smith), Cruella is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Amazing Spider-Man and Superbad alum Emma Stone as classic Disney villain Cruella de Vil. The film is currently scheduled for release on May 28, 2021, having been delayed from its original planned release date of Dec. 23, 2020.

Meanwhile, Disney's upcoming Pinocchio film is a live-action adaptation of the studio's animated feature of the same name from 1940 (itself based on the book The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi). Robert Zemeckis will direct the live-action film, with Tom Hanks reportedly in talks to play Pinocchio's creator and father, Geppetto. Filming was previously slated to begin late this year.

Finally, Peter Pan and Wendy is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1953 film Peter Pan (itself based on the 1904 play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up by J. M. Barrie). Directed by David Lowery, Peter Pan and Wendy is slated to star Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling, Jude Law as Captain Hook, Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell and Alyssa Alook as Tiger Lily.
