The many creative shows and colorful characters that fill the Disney Channel's lineup have been capturing young fans' hearts since the early 1980s. There are many fans who find themselves growing up with many of the characters from popular, longer-running series like Hannah Montana, The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody, and Wizards Of Waverly Place. Although designed for younger audiences, many viewers find themselves continuing to follow the Disney Channel into their late teens or even early twenties.

In addition, the events of the early 2020s have a lot of people revisiting childhood shows for the sake of nostalgia. A lot of older people, even those in their thirties, began making videos on old Disney Channel shows or movies that they'd never seen when they were younger. This brought a lot of forgotten-about characters into the spotlight once again, and many fans have some surprising choices as to who some of the channel's least likable characters are.

9 Alex Russo Is Overly Snarky And Blames Everyone But Herself (Wizards Of Waverly Place)

Wizards Of Waverly Place is one of Disney Channel's more beloved shows. The main family dynamic that the show focuses on is great, the comedic moments aren't bad for a Disney show, and anything that explores the topic of magic tends to become well-liked, especially by younger audiences still fascinated with the topic.

Alex Russo is the middle child of the Russo family and is often the least responsible as well. She often tries to shirk her work off onto others, is quite lazy, and belittles and makes fun of others on top of everything else. Though she has some humorous moments, it's hard to root for her character overall.

8 London Tipton's "Ditzy Rich Girl" Personality Can Only Stay Funny For So Long (The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody)

The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody is another one of Disney's biggest shows and helped launch the careers of many of its younger stars. One such star is Brenda Song, who plays the ditzy rich girl London Tipton.

She's primarily used for comedic relief, and her character has some truly funny moments. But for the most part, her character being reduced to such a rigid caricature makes it hard to like her after a few seasons.

7 Linda Flynn-Fetcher Is Never Shown Taking Her Daughter Seriously (Phineas & Ferb)

Moms in animation are typically given the short end of the stick. This is no different with Linda Flynn-Fetcher from Phineas And Ferb. She's supportive, kind, and a good mother all-around, except in one category that's a little hard to ignore.

No matter what, Linda never seems to be supportive of Candace, nor does she take the schemes her daughter tells her about seriously. Anytime Candace tries to catch her brothers in the act, Linda takes her time and never seems concerned, and her dismissive attitude is hard to like.

6 Virgil Fox Is Only Interested In His Own Popularity (Minutemen)

minutemen main cast

Virgil is one of the three boys who make up the Minutemen trio in the Disney Channel original movie of the same name. From left to right, Virgil is joined by Charlie and Zeke as they try to use their makeshift time machine to help change the future for the better.

However, Virgil is much more interested in his own popularity than his partners or even the potential of them getting caught. He continuously uses the time machine for his own benefit and overall popularity to the detriment of those who did all the work to get him there.

5 Stanley Is Supposed To Be A Humorous Antagonist, But He Just Comes Off As Unlikable (That's So Raven)

Stanley is the main antagonist of That's So Raven. He's a deceptive, cunning, and manipulative kid who enjoys tormenting the main characters and dragging them into schemes that always turn out to be a failure in the end.

He's most often seen doing this to Cory, which certainly doesn't help his likability. Cory ends up becoming such a well-liked character that he gets a show of his own, Cory In The House, though that was met with rather low reception compared to his part as a side character.

4 Jessie Prescott Is Incredibly Irresponsible, And It Feels Like She Gets Rewards She Doesn't Deserve (Jessie)

Jessie is the titular protagonist of the Disney Channel original series, but it's hard to root for her in a lot of cases. It's good to know what a character's strengths and weaknesses are, and having characters grow and move on to bigger and better places in the world over time can be satisfying, but these things have to be done tastefully.

Otherwise, it's easy to end up with a character who feels like a mary-sue, who doesn't face consequences for their actions and has promotions handed to them that feel undeserved. Unfortunately, this is the category Jessie falls into, which makes it hard for fans to sympathize with or even like her.

3 Troy Bolton Is All Too Eager To Abandon His Friends For Clout (High School Musical 2)

troy and sharpay high school musical 2

Though there are three High School Musical movies, Troy's portrayal and actions in the second movie are particularly unlikable. At times, he feels like an entirely different character than his first-movie counterpart, and he feels more like a villain at times than someone the audience is meant to sympathize with.

He has no problem abandoning the friends who were so important to him in the first film to chase clout with Sharpay. While he does seem remorseful during some scenes, he never truly apologizes for this. While his friends look past that and forgive him, it's hard for the audience to do the same.

2 Mitchie Torres Is Embarrassed By Her Hard-Working Mom, Who's Just Trying To Support Her (Camp Rock)

Mitchie Torres from Camp Rock is another protagonist who's incredibly hard to root for. She wants desperately to go to Camp Rock but is told her family can't afford it. Her mother then has to pull many strings so Mitchie can attend.

Mitchie then proceeds to spend most of her time there ashamed of her family, hiding the truth and lying to gain popularity. She abandons the girls who actually want to become her genuine friends in favor of the popular girls and chasing after Shane.

1 Spencer Walsh Actively Cheats While In A Relationship And Is Rewarded For It At The End (Good Luck Charlie)

spencer and teddy good luck charlie

Having a character who cheats and hurts the main character isn't always a bad thing in terms of storytelling. In some cases, it can be a great catalyst for growth - but in the case of Spencer Walsh from Good Luck Charlie, his cheating on Teddy doesn't teach either of them anything.

She breaks up with him due to being understandably furious, but it's not long before she forgives him and they're together again. It feels as if he's rewarded for being a horrible person, and Teddy feels like she's too naive with how she handles their relationship.
