After bringing its animated classics to life with live-action films centering on the various princesses -- from the recent "Cinderella" to the upcoming "Beauty and the Beast" -- Disney looks to tell the tale of another famous fairy tale star: Prince Charming.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has purchased a script for and closed the deal on a feature film project centering on the eponymous prince. Further details about the exact story are unknown but the Matt Fogel-penned script is described as a revisionist take on the fairy tales.

In the official lore of Disney, Prince Charming is the name of Cinderella's love interest. Although Snow White's beau is often referred to as Prince Charming as well, he was officially simply The Prince and later Prince Florian. However, in general fairy tale lore, Prince Charming fits in with a number of stories, from both Snow White and Cinderella to Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel. Which version -- if separate or envisioned as the same person re-married a number of times like in Bill Willingham's "Fables" -- remains to be seen.
