As promised earlier this week, Disney has released the first full trailer for its live-action Aladdin remake. Along with a lot more of Will Smith's controversial Genie, the two minute-long look at the anticipated film gives us more of Aladdin (Mena Massoud), Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Jafar (Marwan Kenzari), Abu and Magic Carpet.

Of course, this is a Disney musical, as the new trailer makes clear by debuting its version of the classic song "A Whole New World," sung by Aladdin and Jasmine as they take their iconic flying carpet ride through the city of Agrabah.

Though the remake is said to reinvent Jasmine's role, giving her a more active storyline than the original movie, there's little sign of her new adventures here. Instead, the first full trailer is composed mainly of scenes recreating some of the animated feature's most iconic moments, from Genie explaining how the three wishes work, to Aladdin and Jasmine's courtship. We do catch several glimpses of Jasmine's handmaiden Dalia, a new character portrayed by Nasim Pedrad, though she's only seen in the background and has no speaking parts.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, Aladdin stars Mena Massoud, with Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Will Smith as the Genie, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as The Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders and Numan Acar as Hakim. The film arrives in theaters May 24.
