With the massive success of "Deadpool," it seems more likely these days that studios would take a chance on an R-rated superhero blockbuster -- but could Warner Bros. take the plunge with its "Suicide Squad" sequel? According to director David Ayer, it's something he sees worth fighting for.

Speaking to MTV News about his decision to keep "Suicide Squad" PG-13 at Cinemacon, Ayer said, "For an R movie, you have to decide to do it right out the gate, and that was never the case here." He added, "We were always going to hit the PG-13 rating. But the film is meant to be that. It's got edge, and it's got attitude. And it's got its own voice...There's a lot in the film that's going to surprise people."

On the possibility of an R-rated sequel, Ayer indicated that he's open to the idea, saying, "It would be worth lobbying for."
