Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo Abandons Highlander Remake

28 Weeks Later and Intruders director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo can't seem to nail down his next project. For a while he was attached to direct a remake of The Crow starring Bradley Cooper, but he bailed after Cooper left. Then, Fresnadillo worked on Summit Entertainment's remake of Highlander, starring Ryan Reynolds, for about a year. However, according to Deadline, he's exited that project as well.

Summit and the director apparently agreed on the separation, but it leaves several projects up in the air. Who will Summit bring in to replace Fresnadillo on its retelling of the tale of immortals who crisscross around the world chopping each others' heads off with cool swords? Also, with Fresnadillo now without a film, what will his next project be? Could this lead back to The Crow? It's always a possibility, but last we heard, Relativity assigned F. Javier Gutierrez to that spot back in January.
