ESCONDIDO, CA January 6, 2003 - X Concepts, Morpheus Forge Entertainment and Digital Webbing are joining forces to create, SKUMM, an all new full-color comic mini-series. The 4 part mini-series, based on the SKUMM line of action figures manufactured by X Concepts, revs into high gear April 2003 with issue #1.

SKUMM takes place on earth in the year 2102, decades after the wars in which corporations tried and failed to overthrow the world's governments. The SKUMM are genetically engineered super-soldiers infused with nano-technology, and now that the wars are over they have been reintegrated into society as sports stars. The sport: medieval jousting on photon cycles and other high-tech vehicles. It's medieval mayhem in the 22 nd century!

SKUMM #1, created and written by Niveque Storm with cover art by Kaare Andrews (Spider-man, Hulk), follows our itinerant SKUMM Jimmy "The Torch" McPherson as he struggles to achieve fortune and fame as a professional jouster with faulty, dangerous equipment, SKUMMy friends, and a job as a security guard. Brutal Medieval Combat! Surgery?! Greedy loan sharks and laser-induced plasma weapons! Can "The Torch" have a worse week?

The SKUMM creative team is rounded out by Deon Nuckols (G.I. Joe, Thor) on pencils/inks, and Hi-Fi Design (Superman, X-Men) contributing their coloring expertise. The comic will feature the 12 new action figures hitting stores in fall 2003. The new SKUMM figures will have full battle gear, vehicles, secret codes and more. To give people a feel for the world of SKUMM an introductory #0 issue will be offered online and sent to comic shops across the nation.

"When I went out to find talent to help create my vision of SKUMM, I did some serious looking," said Storm. "I saw Morpheus Forge's other work and knew I found some serious talent. Digital Webbing had published for Morpheus in the past and so a partnership was formed. Ed Dukeshire has a great relationship to the comic book community and has his finger on its pulse. You can't beat that kind of grass roots knowledge."
