The upcoming Digimon video game Digimon Survive has officially been delayed to next year by Bandai Namco as a result of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

"The Digimon Survive team would like to extend our thanks to fans from around the world for their support during development, especially in these difficult times," Digimon Survive producer Kazumasa Habu said in a statement published by Bandai Namco and Toei Animation.

"We had originally planned to launch Digimon Survive in 2020 but current world events have shifted our development timing and we have made the difficult decision to push Digimon Survive's launch to 2021."

He also urges fans to stay tuned, promising that "exciting updates" regarding the game will arrive in the spring of 2021.

The game is currently in development at Witchcraft for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Digimon Survive was initially announced in July of 2018 with a tentative release window of 2019. The game has since been hit with numerous delays, first being pushed back to 2020 and, now, 2021.
