The sixth series in the Digimon franchise, Digimon Fusion, called Digimon Xros Wars in Japan, introduces a new form of Digivolution called DigiFusion. Similar to DNA Digivolution in Digimon Adventure 02, it combines two or more Digimon into one.

Digimon Fusion follows several Digimon armies working to seize control of the Digital World. One of the armies, the Freedom Fighters, is founded by the protagonist, Shoutmon, whose goal is to become the Digimon King. While the Rookie Digimon isn't strong enough alone, with the help of Mikey Kudo and his Fusion Loader, Shoutmon is able to DigiFuse with countless Digimon to defeat the evil Bagra Army.

10 Played For Laughs Instead Of Power, Shoutmon Fuses With Several Silly Members Of The Fusion Fighters Army

Digimon Fusion Shounitamon, CuteShoutmon, JijiShoutmon

In episode 23, "Laughing All The Way To The Code Crown," Shoutmon and the rest of the Fusion Fighters arrive at the Warrior Zone, where it's revealed the Code Crown is being guarded by Karatenmon. The Shugend0-inspired Digimon says that he'll only give the Code Crown to someone who can make him laugh. This leads Mikey and Shoutmon to make several DigiFusions that are better for laughs than battle.

First, Shoutmon fuses with Cutemon to create an awkward bunny-shaped Digimon with Shoutmon's sharp features. Then he fuses with Jijimon to become an elderly Shoutmon, and with Dondokomon to become a taiko drum. The last two fusions are with Monitamon and PawnChessmon, becoming a living TV screen and a chess piece, respectively. While none of these fusions get Karatenmon to laugh, it was interesting to see more combinations than the usual Shoutmon X3.

9 Not All DigiFuses Change Shoutmon's Appearance — Some Equip Him With A New Weapon

Digimon Fusion Shoutmon with Star Sword

While DigiFusion usually changes the Digimon into a combined being, some provide the base Digimon with a new weapon or vehicle to enhance their abilities instead. In the first episode of the series, "Mikey Goes To Another World!" Mikey, Angie, and Jeremy are attacked by MadLeomon when they first arrive in the Digital World. After a failed attempt to form Shoutmon X4, Mikey uses his Fusion Loader to DigiFuse Shoutmon with Starmon and several Pickmon to create the Star Sword and defeat MadLeomon.

Another DigiFuse enhancement form is between Shoutmon and Nene's Sparrowmon to create Supersonic Sparrow. This enhancement Digimon creates a flying sound-stage for Shoutmon, allowing them to fly at mach speed. This mode is frequently used to help the team escape from dangerous situations.

8 The Rookie Shoutmon Changes Significantly When Fused With Those Of A Higher Level

Digimon Fusion Shoutmon X2 and Drill Cannon

Shoutmon and Dorulumon DigiFuse to create Drill Cannon, another enhanced Digimon form like Supersonic Sparrow. However, its abilities are far greater, as Dorulumon is a Champion level Digimon. In this form, Dorulumon turns into a massive cannon with a holographic aim system. Drill Cannon reveals its awesome power by defeating the Mega level AncientVolcanomon.

Shoutmon's first real fusion form is with another Champion level Digimon, Ballistamon, to create Shoutmon X2, a robot-looking version of Shoutmon with Ballistamon's body as armor. Shoutmon X2 has several notable attacks, like Sonic Tsunami and Optic Laser.

7 Shoutmon's First DigiFuse With More Than One Digimon Changes The Game

Shoutmon X3 from Digimon Fusion anime

Every form before Shoutmon X3 had Shoutmon fusing with only one Digimon, with the exception of the tiny Starmon and Pickmon. Shoutmon X3 takes things up a notch with the combined strength of Shoutmon, Ballistamon, and Dorulumon. This form resembles a Megazord from Power Rangers or the combined Lions in Voltron, bringing together their best parts to create one powerful Digimon. Shoutmon X3's special attack is the Varooma-Boomerang, which shoots a V-shaped energy blast from his chest and can even be removed, acting as a real boomerang in lieu of a sword.

6 Shoutmon Is Nothing Without His Sword

Digimon Fusion Shoutmon X4

Originally depicted in Mikey's dream in the first episode, Shoutmon X4 sees Shoutmon X3 equipped with Starmon, several Pickmon, and Shoutmon's mic stand to form the Star Sword DX. This form combined the defensive armor of Ballistamon, the speed of Dorulumon, and added the Star Sword DX to enhance its attack power. Shoutmon X4's attack Great Sword of Victory can cut any opponent in half with a single strike.

5 Shoutmon X4 Enhances Its Arsenal With a Rookie Teammate

Digimon Fusion Shoutmon X5

The blade-wielding Spadamon is introduced in episode 27, "Sweet Zone Bake-off!" as the protector of the Sweet Zone. The team ends up in a fight with GigaWaruMonzaemon where Shoutmon X4 is losing. Spadamon offers himself as a DigiFuse and combines with Shoutmon X4 to form Shoutmon X4S, which equips him with Spadamon's signature blade and helps him defeat GigaWaruMonzaemon.

Like Shoutmon X4S, this form combines the power of Shoutmon X4 with a Rookie level Digimon. But Shoutmon X5 has even better stats. This time, Shoutmon DigiFuses with Sparrowmon, and while it loses the attack strength of Spadamon, Shoutmon X5 gains Sparrowmon's ability to fly. Shoutmon X5's special attack is called Earth Shaker, which has Shoutmon X5 fly up to the stratosphere and comes at their opponent with the strength of a meteorite and leave a giant crater in the ground below.

4 Shoutmon DigiFuses With Over Five Digimon, Even Those At Ultimate and Mega Levels

Digimon Fusion Shoutmon X4K, Shoutmon X4B

There are two forms of Shoutmon X4 that outclass the flying X5. Shoutmon X4K adds the Ultimate Level Knightmon and several PawnChessmon to grant Shoutmon a sword and shield befitting a knight. Shoutmon X4K's sword combines the power of Knightmon's Berserk Sword with the Star Sword to create a glowing blade. They're also equipped with a shield that displays the Fusion Fighters' emblem and a cape featuring the crest of hope.

While Shoutmon X4K adds an Ultimate level Digimon and several Rookies, Shoutmon X4B combines the strength of Shoutmon X4 with the Mega level Beelzemon, creating a centaur-like Digimon. Shoutmon X4B also has a cannon coming out of his torso which can fire his signature attack: Chaos Flare Cannon. Shoutmon X4B is able to defeat the Mega level SlashAngemon, though Beelzemon's anger causes him to almost kill SlashAngemon before Mikey is able to stop him.

3 Shoutmon X5B Gets An Upgrade, While Shoutmon's Digivolved Form Gets A Fusion of His Own

Digimon Fusion Shoutmon X5B, Shoutmon DX

Similar to Shoutmon X4B, Shoutmon X5B harnesses all of the power of X5, including Sparrowmon’s rocket speed, and adds the power of Beelzemon. Outfitted with four legs and rockets strapped to its back, this form can outpace any enemy on land and in the air.

In episode 30, "When Worlds Collide," Shoutmon gets his first real Digivolution, Digivolving into OmniShoutmon. In this form, Shoutmon has skipped the Champion level entirely to become an Ultimate level Digimon. Later in the series, OmniShoutmon DigiFuses with ZekeGreymon, the Mega form of Christopher's MetalGreymon, itself a fusion of Greymon and MailBirdramon. Thus Shoutmon DX is created, bringing together the rival Digimon leaders of both the Fusion Fighters Army and the Blue Flare Army.

2 Shoutmon's Second Most Powerful Form Is The Combined Strength Of The United Army

Digimon Fusion Shoutmon X7

At the start of the series, Mikey, Christopher, and Nene all lead their own armies in an effort to control the Digital World, but after two seasons, the children became friends and realized that the only way to defeat the evil Bagra Army was to combine forces. The three form the United Army, leading to Shoutmon's most powerful DigiFusion yet.

Shoutmon X7 combines the strength and abilities of over 7 Digimon: OmniShoutmon as the base, Ballistamon as the body and right shoulder, Dorulumon as the left leg and shoulder, Sparrowmon as the left arm, Shoutmon DX as the right leg and the blades protruding from the elbows, and the Starmon and Pickmon that combine to create an enhanced form of Shoutmon's mic in his right hand.

1 Shoutmon DigiFuses With The Entire Digital World

Shoutmon X7F Superior Mode

The finale of Digimon Fusion's second season sees the team go up against MegaDarknessBagramon. After saving Shoutmon from imprisonment within the Dark Stone, the stone is turned back into the Code Crown and chooses Shoutmon as its master. Shoutmon then DigiFuses with every Digimon within the Digital World to become Shoutmon X7F Superior Mode. With their combined strength and Final Xros Blade attack, they defeat MegaDarknessBagramon, saving both the Human and Digital Worlds.
