The Digital World is filled to the brim with lore, mysteries, and secrets that have gone unexplored. Digimon has been around since 1999 and looks to continue their battle against Pokémon for the top monster property for the foreseeable future.

With Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna out this month and a new season that is rebooting the Adventure kids coming up, the fan excitement around Digimon has never been stronger. Since the series' internal lore is so intricate, fans may have missed some potentially funny moments that have a much wider bearing on the world presented in Digimon. Here are ten hilarious implications found in the world of Digimon.

10 Infinite Lives Make Immortality (Technically) Possible

It is established early on that Digimon who die in the Digital World come back as Digi-Eggs. While most do not retain their memories, a select few do, such as the partner Digimon and Leomon. With this knowledge, it is easy to believe there is at least one Digimon out there who is a thrill seeker and dies on a regular basis.

If real people are out there climbing tight ropes at 3000 feet in the air with no net, that information is being fed into the Digital World via video uploads, which means that data is being digitized. Perhaps it creates a Lopmon who does the same stunts, only with no training, leading to deaths seven through eighteen.

9 Noah’s Ark, Part 12

Hackmon

The easiest way to explain this constant threat is to say that the Bible was uploaded to the internet. Not much else would explain why, every few years or so, Yggdrasil or Homeostasis decide to completely wipe out the Digital World and start anew. A Jesus-based Digimon was also recently introduced, which is an interesting fact of the series.

In some continuities, such as Digimon X-Evolution, it is a Noah’s Ark-like situation since Yggdrasil chooses non-X-antibody Digimon to come with him into a new world. What makes this information more jarring is the fact that during Digimon: Tri, Izzy technically becomes a God-like figure since he creates a way to copy the Digital World in his computer, even if he doesn’t actually do it.

8 Re-Re-Resets Are A Part Of Everyday Life

Sadly, the fact of the matter is that the resetting of the Digital World does happen periodically. While that isn’t ideal in itself, anyone who has touched a computer can tell you that it does not work. If you have a virus, resetting your computer doesn’t destroy the virus, and in some cases can help it mutate.

That happens so often with the Digital World that they might as well be sponsored by an anti-virus software. The funniest part is that, with all memories wiped, they continue to do it because they cannot learn from their past. It’s like Groundhog Day, but with a lot less learning and more dinosaurs.

7 Bio-Merging & Fusion Aren't That Great

When fusion was first introduced at the end of Digimon: The Movie, fans were ecstatic to see the possibilities, which led to it being a huge part of Adventure 02 and further during Fusion. Then in Tamers, the idea of Bio-Merging was introduced, which allowed the kids to get in on the fights.

The comedy here is that not all Digimon are created equal. While merging with Renamon or Guilmon would be cool, someone is going to be unlucky enough to merge with a literal poop monster like Sukamon. It would be crushing to become a Digi-Destined and only be able to merge with poop and turn into more poop!

6 Digimon Can Hack Into Real-World Websites

If Digimon: Cyber Sleuth taught us anything, it is that the walls between worlds are incredibly slim and Digimon love to ruin things they love. One quest in the game sees the protagonist going into a fake version of Wikipedia where a Tentomon has been actively changing information because the old information bored him.

Another sees Gaomon in a boxing gym’s website, crashing it so they can watch YouTube. Apparently, this is a regular occurrence in worlds connected to the Digital World. Judging by the number of sites that are hacked today, maybe we have a Digimon outbreak in our midst. There are no comic book Digimon discovered yet, so we should be safe, right?

5 Digimon Control Our World

In addition to controlling digital content through hacking and just walking into our powerlines, Digimon also have a special power of controlling every single thing in our world. From our phones to cars, almost everything is connected, which just opens the doors for Digimon to come in.

Fans have seen the truly negative side when Diaboromon launched nukes during Digimon: The Movie, but there is a lighter side that is underexplored. If you have a connection to a Digimon in the system, you don’t have to worry about red lights ever again. It truly is a win-some-lose-some situation!

4 Naughty, Naughty!

Digimon are made of data and interact with human’s data across all continuities. Another thing that is data and interacts with data are pictures and videos. No Digimon has been confirmed to be born out of a certain set of videos and pictures but looking at certain Digimon like Lilithmon, Rosemon, and Leomon, they may have taken aspects.

One mission in Digimon: Cyber Sleuth includes chasing down a Lillymon who has invaded a phone belonging to a character named “Hot Guy.” One of the things she was doing was putting pictures of flowers into his phone, which may or may not be a euphemism.

3 Humans Can Create Their Own 'Mons

As seen in the third season, Digimon can be created out of thin air as long as the heart is in it. For Digimon: Tamers’ Takato, the creation leads to the loveable Guilmon. However, there are people who feel just as strong who would create much worse creatures.

On one side of Digimon are the cute and cuddly creatures who are living their best lives, but on the other hand, there are the humanoid Digimon like Angewomon. Take a very lonely guy, put him in the Digital World with the ability to create a Digimon and you’ll get some horrifying pieces of fan art that suddenly becomes real. An ability like that is much more suited for creating waifu pillows than living beings.

2 The Digital World Changes Humans Into Digimon

One of the most important things to note about the Digital World is that all of its inhabitants aren’t technically Digimon, or they don’t start off that way. Wizardmon, and his magic-based kin, are actually imported from Witchelny, a world similar to the Digital World that's just in a different dimension. They then are able to Digivolve into Digimon while in the Digital World.

Not only have extra-dimensional beings been turned into Digimon, but Digimon: Frontier also shows that people can just be turned into Digimon as Takuya is, at one point, turned into Flamemon, a human-Digimon hybrid. To a lesser extent, Oikawa of Adventure 02 is turned into a butterfly swarm made of data when he dies in the Digital World, presumably to be reborn at some time.

1 Digimon Poop Out Of Spite

If you’ve played any type of Tamagotchi game, including Digimon, then you know that these creatures cannot survive for long without pooping themselves to death. Only mentioned a few brief times as a side gag, the Digimon of the series rarely, if ever, poop. The reason for that is they can choose whether or not they want to.

DuringAdventure, the Digi-Destined come to realize that they don’t have to have the same bodily functions, including bathroom use, while they are in the Digital World. This is also discussed in Digimon Tamers as well. That means that when your V-Pet is pooping itself to death, it is specifically to spite you, not because they have to!
