Arrow's John Diggle is headed back to the Arrowverse.

According to Entertainment Weekly, David Ramsey will return to The CW's DC TV shows as a guest star and as a director. He will reprise his role as Diggle across five Arrowverse shows: Superman & Lois, Supergirl, The Flash, Batwoman and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Additionally, he will also direct five Arrowverse episodes on shows such as Superman & Lois and Supergirl.

"I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I've been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera," Ramsey said in a statement. "To say I'm excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can't wait to continue telling these stories."

Although Arrow came to a close earlier this year, the series finale left the future wide open for Diggle, who has played a major role since the original Arrowverse show premiered. In "Fadeout," Diggle appeared to receive his Green Lantern ring. The closing montage, which revealed the members of Team Arrow heading their separate ways, picked up with Diggle as he finished packing up his house to move to Metropolis. Suddenly, a fireball crashed right in front of him, leaving behind a smoking crater. There, he discovered a small box. When he opened it, the contents glowed green, suggesting John Diggle of Earth had been invited to join the Green Lantern Corps. However, it is unclear if Ramsey's upcoming episodes will explore the fallout of this revelation.

Over the course of the series, the Arrowverse has consistently teased Diggle as a potential Green Lantern. For one, the Season 7 episode "Spartan" introduced Diggle's step-father General Roy Stewart, which means he could have been John Stewart -- just like the Green Lantern of the same name. In "Elseworlds," 2018's crossover, Earth-90's Flash mistook Diggle for a Green Lantern and asked him why he wasn't wearing his "ring." Plus, there are other factors -- like Diggle's military history and longstanding friendship with Green Arrow -- that mirror Green Lantern as he appeared in the comics.

The Arrowverse will return beginning with Batwoman's Season 2 premiere on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 8 pm ET/PT. Black Lightning will follow on Feb. 8 at 9 pm ET/PT, while The Flash and Superman & Lois will air back-to-back on Tuesdays starting Feb. 23 at 8 pm ET/PT. Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow will not return until midseason.
