John "Dig" Diggle's run as Green Arrow isn't destined to last. Though he agreed to take up the mantle on the last episode of Arrow, Dig actor David Ramsey revealed that he won't hold onto the title for the rest of the season.

"No. No, it’s Green Arrow. Stephen Amell is Green Arrow," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It’s not going to last. Of course not, but I think it’s very interesting and it’s an interesting twist on how it fits into the ultimate theme of the season, I think it’s very clever. I think it’s an interesting detour."

"It also gives us some time with Oliver," he added. "I think it’s great, and he has some great writing. Stuff is happening between him and Deathstroke, and he and his son and he and Felicity. It’s awesome. I think holding it for the few episodes I have the mantle, that’s the appropriate amount of time."

However, he did confirm that Dig "wears this mantle for several episodes."

At the end of "Tribute," last week's episode, Dinah convinced Dig to tell Oliver about his injury. However, when they met up, Oliver asked Dig to take over as Green Arrow. Before Dig could say no, Oliver launched into a speech about his son and how he promised William that he wouldn’t make him an orphan — a promise he couldn’t keep unless he stepped down from being Green Arrow. In response to that, Digg shook in hand, signaling to Oliver that he would indeed take over as Green Arrow. "Next of Kin," this week's episode, will begin to explore the consequences of that decision.

Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer, Arrow airs Thursdays at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland and more.
