Sometimes, the extreme popularity that comes with being a famous actor gets to their heads and transforms them on and off the set. This has made directors and actors not want to work with certain people because of the bad reputations some actors get for being extremely difficult to work with.

Katherine Heigl is widely known for her portrayal of Izzie Stevens in the hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Heigl also starred in the 2007 film Knocked Up alongside her co-star Seth Rogen. She has spoken out against the film and how it portrays women. Her co-star and director Judd Apatow were mildly offended by her comments.

Heigl has been labeled difficult to work with due to her blunt way of saying things. "I may have said a couple of things you didn't like, then that escalated to 'she's difficult.' What is your definition of difficult? Somebody with an opinion you don't like? Now I'm 42, that annoys me," said Heigl to the Washington Post.

9 Stacey Dash Thinks Hollywood Is Blacklisting Her

Dash stated that she would love to return to her acting career but believes she is being 'blacklisted' by Hollywood. "There are things that I am sorry for. Things that I did say, that I should not have said them the way I said them. They were very arrogant and prideful and angry. And that’s who Stacey was, but that’s not who Stacey is now," stated Dash to DailyMailTV.

8 Julia Roberts Was Labeled 'Tinkerhell'

Julia Roberts earned her nickname 'Tinkerhell' while on-set for Steven Spielberg's Hook for her portrayal of Tinkerbell in 1991. It is believed that her bad behavior was due to her breaking off the wedding with Kiefer Sutherland because he had cheated on her. When finding out about the nickname, Roberts stated, "No. I have not heard it. But I'm a normal person."

Her behavior sparked a feud with Spielberg and he later commented on it: "It was an unfortunate time for us to work together. But I think Julia is a really, really good actress." Spielberg added that he wouldn't work with Roberts again.

7 Edward Norton Tried To Overrule Directors

Edward Norton is known for his role as Bruce Banner in the 2008 film The Incredible HulkHowever, Norton's on-set behavior was far from incredible. He was notorious for trying to take charge of the director and other higher-ups. Norton would constantly rewrite scripts and would even try to get access to edit films.

Norton was at the Bruce Willis' Comedy Central Roast and made the following statement, which was directed at Willis: “I tried to be like you. I did a big action movie called The Incredible Hulk. You know what went wrong? I wanted a better script.”

6 Crispin Glover Was Often Analytical Of Scenes

Crispin Glover is known for his role as George McFly, Marty's dad, in Back to the Future. Glover would argue with the movie's writers, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, quite frequently about certain acting decisions made. He later responded to the accusation of him being difficult, "When you ask questions people say 'You're crazy'."He decided not to return for the film's second and third parts.

For parts two and three of the franchise, producers used heavy prosthetics on a different actor and recycled footage of Glover to appear like he was still in the film. Glover filed a lawsuit against the sequels' producers in 1990 for infringement of rights to publicity and was awarded $760,000.

Janet Hubert played Will Smith's aunt, Aunt Viv, for three seasons until she left due to her pregnancy and rough home life. During her time on the show, Smith labeled her as 'difficult to work with,' and this unfortunately impacted her ability to get work. Hubert even recounted her mental health struggles and her contemplation of suicide after being called difficult.

She attributed her behavior on-set to the hardships she was facing at home. Smith apologized to Hubert and they reconciled after a 30-year-long beef.

4 Mandy Patinkin Admits His Abysmal Behavior

Mandy Patinkin is widely known for his role as Inigo Montoya in the 1987 classic The Princess Bride. However, Patinkin wasn’t always the chivalrous character viewers see on-screen. He got a reputation for being a snob when he walked off the Criminal Minds' setIt was later revealed that it was due to the disturbing content of the show.

Patinkin commented on his bad behavior in the past in an interview with the New York Times Magazine, “I struggled with letting in other people’s opinions. During Chicago Hope, I never let directors talk to me because I was so spoiled.”

Samantha Ware, who played Jane Hayward on Glee's final season recalled her experience with Michele via Twitter, “You made my first television gig a living hell.”

Michele apologized for her behavior in the following lengthy post: “I listened to these criticisms and I am learning and while I am very sorry, I will be better in the future from this experience.”
