It has been reported that Oscar-nominated producer Charles Gordon, who worked on films such as Die Hard and Waterworld, has died of cancer at the age of 73. He is survived by his three children, Jamie, Kate and Lily, and by his wife, Lynda.

His brother and frequent collaborator Lawrence Gordon stated, "Although he was 11 years younger, he was more like an older brother to me in many parts of my life. He was a wonderful family man with excellent judgment. On our movies, he was invaluable."

The pair had worked on major releases such as October Sky, The Rocketeer, K-9 and more. Charles Gordon also produced the 2007 video game film adaptation, Hitman, and its 2015 reboot, Hitman: Agent 47. The producer was nominated for an Oscar for the 1989 film, Field of Dreams, which itself was nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Original Score, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture. The film was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress for "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

In addition, Gordon also served as executive producer on a number of television shows, such as 1983's The Renegades, and television films including 1984's The Streets and 1997's Things That Go Bump.
