The title for the upcoming sixth Die Hard film has, at long last, been announced.

Debuting in 1988, the blockbuster action franchise propelled Bruce Willis to movie stardom as New York police detective John McClane, and has followed his increasingly implausible adventures through 2013's critically panned but commercially successful A Good Day to Die Hard.

The sixth film in the series, referred to since 2015 as Die Hard: Year One, will see the 63-year-old Willis retire the character. However, it won't be under that title. According to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the film is called McClane.

He confirmed to Empire that the film isn't entirely a prequel, but will instead showcase two periods in McClane's life: the present day, and the beginning of his career.

“You can tell our intention by the fact that the title page we handed in says, ‘McClane,'" di Bonaventura said. "We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before. … We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”

Directed by Len Wiseman, McClane is expected to be released in 2019 or 2020.
