A rumor claims two more Rare games will arrive on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack following the new tier's launch in late October.

According to Zippo, a Nintendo leaker who has been accurate in the past, Diddy Kong Racing and Killer Instinct are slated to arrive on the service. Additionally, there are plans for Killer Instinct's sequel to be part of Nintendo Switch Online. Zippo did not give any specific timeline for when these games might arrive.

At this time, Nintendo has not confirmed if Diddy Kong Racing and Killer Instinct will join its service, so take all of this with a grain of salt. However, if this rumor proves true, Nintendo Switch Online will feature three Rare games, as Banjo-Kazooie was announced as a post-launch title. Zippo also notes there's a distinct possibility more Rare games will end up on the service as part of Microsoft and Nintendo's ongoing partnership.

Released in 1997, Diddy Kong Racing sees players taking on the role of the titular character and his friends as they try and defeat Wizpig, an alien with magical powers. In the game, players can drive cars, hovercrafts and airplanes through a series of different worlds. Upon release, Diddy Kong Racing was met with critical acclaim, and the N64 version of the game holds an 88 on Metacritic. Despite the game's popularity, Diddy Kong Racing never received a sequel, though the title was remade for the Nintendo DS in 2007.

Originally released in arcades, Killer Instinct made its way to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. The fighting game featured a number of colorful and interesting characters, resulting in high praise from critics. The game received an arcade sequel in 1996, which was ported to the Nintendo 64 as Killer Instinct Gold. Microsoft later rebooted the series in 2013.

Announced at September 2021's Nintendo Direct, Nintendo Switch Online's new tier will give subscribers access to select Nintendo 64 games. At launch, the service will feature Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Dr. Mario 64, Mario Tennis, Sin & Punishment, Yoshi's Story, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, WinBack: Covert Operations and Star Fox 64. Those titles will eventually be joined by Banjo-Kazooie, F-Zero X, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Pokémon Snap, Majora's Mask, Mario Golf and Paper Mario.

At the time of writing, the exact release date and price for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack are unknown.
