Crazy as it seems, the pieces could fit.

According to a report from ComicBook.com, an officially licensed "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" jigsaw puzzle has blown the lid off of the highly speculated-upon origins of a crucial new "Star Wars" character.

[Possible SPOILERS to follow]

The 1000 piece collectible, being sold on Amazon through a vendor bearing a "Disney Lucas Films Ltd." handle, featured an image of John Boyega as Finn, who it refers to as "Lando Calrissian's Son."

Finn Calrissian? Without official confirmation, the suggestion can only be considered a rumor, or maybe the work of some slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler. Still, the latest "Episode VII" TV trailer explicitly references adventure for a new "generation" and to seeing "the same eyes in different people," which seem like strong hints that parentage could play a big part in bonding new heroes Finn, Rey, and Poe.

With interest in "The Force Awakens" so high, a degree of plot leakage mixing with circumstantial conjecture is nearly inevitable, despite every effort of director J.J. Abrams, LucasFilm and Disney to protect the story's details for as long as possible. The "Star Wars" licensed merchandise apparatus played a huge part in the value of Disney's $4 billion purchase of LucasFilm, though, and during the run-up to "Episode VII," eagle-eyed fans have discovered or estimated plot points through every kind of source -- from comicbooks to posters, video games, and now maybe even puzzles in collectible tins.

Attempting to sift through and piece it all together can become one of those deals that gets worse all the time, but until the latest "Star Wars" installment hits theaters, generations of movie-goers that have spent years imagining what could come next in the ongoing saga may feel as though they have no choice.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens galaxy-wide December 18th.
