The following contains spoilers for Nightwing #93, now on sale from DC Comics

Nightwing and Oracle -- aka Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon -- have spent years circling each other romantically, enjoying an on-again-off-again relationship. But as they've gotten closer lately, it might be time for the pair to give a proper relationship another chance, especially after their latest admission of their feelings.

Nightwing's accidental admission of love to Oracle in Nightwing #93 (by Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Wade Von Grawbadger, Adriano Lucas and Wes Abbott) is a big step for the pair and should lead to a more formal romance between the pair.

Nightwing and Oracle have long been connected romantically, initially serving as allies in Batman's war on crime before developing feelings for one another. While they've both had plenty of other love interests over the years, the pair have become close again after the events of Dark Nights: Death Metal. As the end of the world stared them in the face, the pair admitted their emotions and were "married" by Batman.

Since then, while the pair haven't been in a formal relationship, Oracle briefly admitted to an attraction to an old flame who revealed himself to be a villain in Batgirls. Meanwhile, Dick was briefly teased to be repairing ties with Starfire in Titans Academy. But they both have been increasingly close, with "Fear State" even revealing their ultimate fears (brought on by Fear Toxin) is the death of the other.

In Nightwing especially, the pair have been hanging out frequently and flirting constantly. They've even shared a few kisses. But Nightwing takes things to a new level in Nightwing #93. The pair devised a way to expose the corrupt police who framed local youths for graffiti in a public park (which gave the cops an extra excuse to crack down on the area). Thanks to Barbara, they gain the proof they needed to share with the public to expose the corruption, leading an overjoyed Dick to let slip that he loves Barbara. It catches both heroes by surprise, and they quickly share a sweet natured look and joke. But it's quietly a big development for the pair.

Nightwing and Batgirl getting close

Nightwing and Oracles' feelings for each other have become so pronounced lately that even others have been commenting on it. The Flash gave Nightwing advice saying he should take the chance to fully and formally commit to Oracle, while most of the rest of the Bat-Family has been nothing but supportive of the romance. At this point, it might honestly be best if the pair did take their relationship to the next level and formalize their romance once again.

It could be a big boon to the Bat-Family as a whole, even beyond the romance shared by the pair as it would bring some much-needed stability to the group (especially in light of Batman's apparent death in the lead-up to Dark Crisis). Nightwing and Oracle are already more or less the leaders of the Bat-Family, with Oracles position as the group's command center coming in great use recently.

Meanwhile, Nightwing has been more or less cemented as the heart of the superhero community, to the point even Black Adam thinks he should have more authority than he does. Having each other formally at one another's back could be a huge boon for Nightwing and Oracle, especially as things get tricker for the heroes to survive. Nightwing and Oracle have one of DC's best romances and it's time they made that a bigger part of their lives.
