Leading comic book and graphic novel distributor Diamond Comic Distributors has released its sales figures for the month of January -- with DC Comics' Wonder Woman #750, Marvel Comics' Thor #1 and Marvel's Star Wars #1 leading the pack to kick off 2020.

Wonder Woman #750 -- an 96-page anniversary special from an all-star cast of creators celebrating the legacy of Diana Prince -- was the single highest-selling comic of January 2020 according to Diamond. Coming in at second place is Thor #1, the relaunch issue marking the beginning of Donny Cates and Nic Klein's tenure helming the God of Thunder's stories. Finally, Charles Soule and Jesus Saiz's own relaunch of Marvel's Star Wars series comes in at third place.

Wonder Woman and Thor surpassing the new Star Wars #1 is significant, as Marvel's previous Star Wars #1 from 2015 was an absolute titan as far as sales were concerned, going on to become the highest-selling comic book of the 2010s as a whole.

However, while DC took the number one spot with Wonder Woman #750, Marvel was the overall top publisher for the month of January, securing a 39.98 percent dollar share and a 46.67 percent unit share of the market. DC comes in at second place overall with 29.99 percent and 29.73 percent, respectively, followed by Image Comics in third place with 5.6 percent in both categories. Image is followed by IDW Publishing, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, Viz Media and Dynamite Entertainment.

It's not exactly a surprise that Marvel held the highest market share this month, as the House of Ideas' titles account for eight of the spots in Diamond's top 10 sellers list for the month of January. The full top 10 list in order is Wonder Woman #750 (DC), Thor #1 (Marvel), Star Wars #1 (Marvel), X-Men #4 (Marvel), X-Men #5 (Marvel), Guardians of the Galaxy #1 (Marvel), Batman #86 (DC), Amazing Spider-Man #38 (Marvel), Amazing Spider-Man #37 (Marvel) and Star #1 (Marvel).

Third place publisher Image Comics' top-telling comic January 2020 was Spawn #304, coming in as the 40th highest-selling comic for the month overall. BOOM! Studios' top book last month was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2 at 54th place; Dynamite's was Red Sonja: Age of Chaos #1 at 86th place; IDW's was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #101 at 89th place; and Dark Horse's was Stranger Things: Into the Fire #1 at 134th place.

Finally, we come to graphic novels. Marvel took the top spot in this category with the collected edition of Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's Absolute Carnage. Fellow Marvel titles League of Legends: Lux and House of X/Powers of X came in at fourth and fifth place, respectively. Meanwhile, DC secured the second place spot for graphic novels with Shannon Hale, Dean Hale and Victoria Yang's Diana: Princess of the Amazons. The Burbank-based publisher had three other graphic novels in the top 10, while Dark Horse had two, including Stranger Things: Zombie Boys at sixth place.
