Diamond Named Booktrade Distributor for Sky-Dog Comics

Official Press Release

Sky-Dog Comics has named Diamond Book Distributors as the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of its English-language graphic novels to the bookstore, library, warehouse, and mass merchandise markets.

The Falls Church, VA-based Sky-Dog is home to "The World's Most Upbeat Super-Hero," Buzzboy. Initially launched as a print comic in 1998, Buzzboy moved to the Internet (www.Buzzboy.com) as on online strip in January 2000, followed by fully animated "webisodes" which began in September 2002. Given the main character's constantly growing fan base, and critical acclaim received from a wide number of sources, Sky-Dog is ready to return Buzzboy to its original medium in the form of high quality comics and graphic novels.

"Buzzboy is a true celebration of pop culture in general and comics in particular," said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes, "resulting in a fun, accessible title that's perfect for readers of all ages."

"Sky-Dog has taken the leap into publishing trades and graphic novels," said John Gallagher, Buzzboy creator, and Sky-Dog founder," and Diamond's commitment to promoting a wide variety of comics to the book trade made them an attractive partner, and, ultimately, the obvious choice." Gallagher added, "With our first graphic novel, Buzzboy: Trouble in Paradise, coming out in December, Sky-Dog has begun a strategy to print books with an extended shelf life for the direct market retailers, while creating an attractive and accessible entertainment product for the growing book trade. With the obvious pun intended, I'm buzzed to be working with Diamond! "

Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place Sky-Dog's graphic novels across the country. "Given the success of Buzzboy on the Internet, we're sure that Sky-Dog's forthcoming trade paperbacks will be well-received in the specialty and mainstream markets alike," Schanes added. "We're honored that Sky-Dog has chosen Diamond to help with the next step in this popular character's evolution."
