Diablo Cody has quickly risen into a rather enviable creative role ever since hitting it big with an Oscar win for her first effort as a screenwriter, 2007's Juno. She followed that up with stuff like Jennifer's Body and The United States of Tara, though she has yet to actually direct anything. That all changes with the untitled film she's working on now, about a woman who develops a new appreciation for life in Las Vegas after surviving a plane crash.
While we still don't know what the movie will be called, a few names are now officially associated with it. Deadline confirms that Julianne Hough and Russell Brand are both set to star in the film. Hough, who will soon be seen in Footloose, plays the crash survivor. Brand will play the "unlikely companion who helps her find herself." The two performers are both good at what they do, but I'm going to wait until we hear some more before making any judgments. What do you think of the casting?
