Dexter won't be murdering his way through Miami, nor Oregon, where we last saw the character in Dexter's Season 8 finale.

Showtime revealed that Dexter Morgan, the forensic expert and secret serial killer, will next be seen in a fictional small town in New York called Iron Lake, as confirmed by TVLine.

Filming for the revival will begin in Massachusetts next month with Dexter's original executive producer Clyde Phillips back as showrunner. Michael C. Hall is also returning to the starring role of the merciful murderer. The show's departure from the vigilante's beginnings in Miami and move away from Dexter's lumberjack life in Oregon suggests it's unlikely we'll see much of the original cast return.

Phillips recently confirmed that the show's revival won't be rebooting any of the show's decisions, nor rewriting the ending that Season 8 established. "We’re not undoing anything," he said. "We’re not going to betray the audience and say, 'Whoops, that was all a dream.' What happened in the first eight years happened in the first eight years."

Joining the cast is veteran character actor Clancy Brown as the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake and the show's primary antagonist. Julia Jones (Goliath) will also star as Iron Lake's first Native American Chief of Police alongside Alano Miller (Jane the Virgin) as an Iron Lake Police Sergeant and assistant wrestling coach at the local high school.

Created by Clyde Phillips, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, Clancy Brown, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah and Jack Alcott. Showtime's revival series has yet to receive a premiere date.
