WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Dexter: New Blood Episode 2, "Storm of Fuck," which aired Sunday, Nov. 14, on Showtime.

While Dexter Morgan has murdered dozens of people across his life, often at the whims of his personified lethal urges, which he has since dubbed the Dark Passenger, the serial killer with a heart of gold has always preyed upon figures worthy of his bloody attention. From the terrifying Trinity Killer, who personally targeted Dexter through his young family, to the evil Oliver Saxon, Dexter has often faced off against characters that are far more morally repugnant than he is. And while the revival series Dexter: New Blood began innocently enough -- at least by Dexter's standards -- it has gradually begun to introduce its own overarching antagonist that is sure to give Dexter a run for his murderous money.

After faking his own death in Miami a decade prior, Dexter eventually took refuge under an assumed name in the sleepy upstate New York town of Iron Lake. Located near a local indigenous reservation, the only concern the small town's police force seemingly had to contend with was runaway livestock and stolen pies before Dexter's murderous urges began to resurface uncontrollably. But as the police launch an investigation in the strange disappearance of an obnoxious local murdered by Dexter after he discovered his own lethal secret, a different serial killer appears to be lurking in the shadows of Iron Lake. And if local reports are to be believed, this mysterious killer has been active and unchecked for years.

The latest episode of Dexter: New Blood opens with a woman awakening in a strange bedroom that appears to be completely cut off from the outside world. It is quickly revealed that this voyeuristic scene is under surveillance at all times, with the woman watched intently by an unseen figure as the woman realizes she is being kept against her will and is likely to be the latest in a growing line of victims from the shadowy figure that has whisked her away to parts unknown. This disturbing scene is juxtaposed with Iron Lake's sheriff Angela Bishop revealing that women have gone missing in the area for years, with individuals from the nearby reservation resentful that the authorities haven't seriously looked into women's disappearances from their community.

Dexter has dedicated much of his life to redirect the Dark Passenger's murderous urges towards figures that have eluded justice for their own heinous crimes, often preying upon other killers and malicious characters that prey on the innocent. A serial killer targeting women in the small town of Iron Lake and its neighboring reservation territory certainly falls right in line with the types of people that Dexter would actively hunt down and administer his own brand of bloody retribution -- provided he knew of this murder's existence and identity.

Dexter: New Blood

There is currently no clear indication of who this mysterious serial killer could be, but, given the nature of the murderer's setup, it is likely someone with a fair amount of capital to illicitly fund their activities. One very likely candidate is Kurt Caldwell, the most powerful man in Iron Lake and father of the man that Dexter murdered at the start of New Blood. Kurt arrived on the scene to restart the investigation of his son's whereabouts late, and he certainly would have the pull to make such a homicidal hobby possible. Of course, this could all be a feint from someone more seemingly innocuous like the bumbling police officer Teddy Reed as the true culprit, but, whoever this killer may be, they remain on the loose.

To find out who the killer is, Dexter: New Blood airs Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on Showtime.
