Devil's Due Titles Selling Out

Official Press Release

Chicago, IL – With the release of G.I.JOE: AMERICA'S ELITE and FORGOTTEN REALMS: HOMELAND this Summer, both awesome new series are selling out fast. To date, only issue #1 cover B (Diamond Code APR052800) and issue #2 cover B (Diamond Code MAY052686 ) of Forgotten Realms remain in stock, selling briskly. To date, G.I.JOE: AMERICA'S ELITE #0 (now available in second print - Diamond Code: APR058266), #1, and #2, SNAKE EYES: DECLASSIFIED #1, all three cover A's of the runaway hit FORGOTTEN REALMS: HOMELAND, and DRAGONLANCE: CHRONICLES #1A have sold out at the distributor level despite overprinting for anticipated demand.

G.I.JOE: AMERICA'S ELITE #1 was overprinted by the most significant percentage, as well as overshipped to comic book stores who participate in Diamond Distributor's overship program. The response to all 4 series has been amazing.

"The readership is definitely there," said Josh Blaylock, President of DDP. " Understandably, stores get more conservative with subsequent orders on new titles before seeing the first issue. Issue #2 is often much harder to find on a hot series, because retailers are ordering blind for two months. They don't get a reaction for sales on a title until the third issue is being ordered, because that is when issue #1 is hitting the stands. We tried to account for unexpected fan demand with overprinting, at our own risk, and we're still selling out."

The publisher has transfered much of its house inventory to the distributor centers to fill backorders, and is contemplating which titles will get the 2nd printing treatment.

Fans are urged to request copies of upcoming issues from their local retailer to ensure copies are available. Call 1-888-COMIC BOOK to find your local retailer. All DDP comics may be purchased by store buyers through Diamond Comic Distributors:

Devil's Due Publishing was formed in 1999 as both a commercial art studio and a small press comic book publisher. DDP's first breakout success was 2001's revamp of G.I. JOE, returning the long-lost 1980s characters to comics. Fans bought over 100,000 copies per month, immediately propelling G.I. JOE to the top of the charts. Today, DDP's lineup includes Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, eigoManga, Hack/Slash and the Aftermath universe, a new imprint featuring super-powered heroes in titles like Defex, Breakdown, Blade of Kumori and Infantry.
