Detroit: Become Human is a 2018 choice-based narrative adventure game from Quantic Dream, the developers behind the recently-announced Star Wars Eclipse. Detroit tells a near-futuristic story of three androids living in a time when their kind is trying to coexist and blend in with human society. Players follow the intertwining stories of these three sentient beings as they struggle to fit in.

Those who have played any Quantic Dream games like Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls should know what to expect same from Detroit. Player decisions can lead to character deaths, and choices made throughout the game will impact how the story ends. The narrative is standard length for a Quantic Dream game, featuring many branching paths for players to explore.

Detroit: Become Human's story will take around 12 hours to finish.. The first of the androids is Connor, who a police investigator hunting rogue androids. He has the ability to use augmented vision, which helps players make decisions during gameplay. The second is Kara, who spends her storyline trying to protect a young girl. The third is Markus, who has the ability to instill free will in others and is trying to liberate his fellow androids.

These characters interact with each other in different ways throughout Detroit, and due to the game's branching narrative structure, some characters can even die. Players will not receive a Game Over screen or be penalized for making wrong actions, as the game is designed to draw a resolution -- good or bad -- from the consequences of a player's choices.

How Long It Takes To Complete Detroit: Become Human

As a narrative-based game, Detroit: Become Human's main replayability factor comes from its flowchart, which tracks player choices. This allows players to see each choice they made so they can potentially take a different course of action next time. These range from major story deviations to minor differences, resulting in a lot of different endings. Thankfully, the differences between the endings are mostly minor, though that also means it's unlikely that players will see them all. Discovering all of the minute story differences may not be enough incentive for players to replay the game, and for many, one playthrough of Detroit may be enough.

However, those who want to explore some of the major twists and different endings should play Detroit: Become Human at least twice to attain a reasonably higher flowchart completion rate. While finishing all or most of the flowchart will take at least 30-40 hours, players should be able to unlock all trophies or achievements in two or three playthroughs, which will probably take 20-30 hours.
