Detective Pikachu's Live-Action Lickitung Is as Horrifying as You'd Expect

Ever wonder what Pokémon's Lickitung would look like in realistically-rendered CGI? The latest teaser for Detective Pikachu shows every single taste bud of the already-disgusting Pokémon, as well as some of the other Pokémon that will appear in the film.

In addition to Lickitung, the teaser offers a look at Growlithe and Bulbasaur, among others. Although Bulbasaur appeared in a previous trailer, this clip also provide a better look at the character. The first appearance saw a pack of the creatures moving through a forest.

The trailer also reveals Detective Pikachu's addiction to caffeine and contains a joke about him not understanding the difference between Spanish and French.

Warner Bros. is seemingly already looking into the possibility of making a sequel to Detective Pikachu, though those plans will likely depend on how the movie fares at the box office. The studio has signed Oren Uziel, who co-wrote Men in Black International and 22 Jump Street, to pen the script for the sequel, indicating that it's confident in how Detective Pikachu will be received.

Directed by Rob Letterman, Detective Pikachu stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe and the voice of Ryan Reynolds. The film opens in theaters on May 10.
