With Detective Pikachu bringing Nintendo's beloved Pokemon franchise in live-action to theaters in less than two months, a new TV spot teases the dynamic between the crime-solving Pokemon and his human partner.
Shared by voice actor Ryan Reynolds on his Twitter account, the spot shows Detective Pikachu teaming up with a young man named Tim, portrayed by Justice Smith, agreeing to help him locate his missing father. As the two begin their new partnership, comedic hi-jinks ensue including Tim forcing Pikachu to walk instead of riding on his shoulders.
"Your childhood bed is a Pikachu bed! I've never been so flattered and creeped out at the same time," exclaims Detective Pikachu while exploring Tim's old bedroom to his embarrassment.
Featuring a whole host of Pokemon, including the powerful psychic Pokemon Mewtwo, Tim and Detective Pikachu's investigation through Pallet Town is sure to take the duo into unexpected places and on a collision course with surprising pocket monsters.
Directed by Rob Letterman, Detective Pikachu stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe and the voice of Ryan Reynolds. The film opens in theaters on May 10.
