Detective Pikachu, the first live-action Pokemon movie, will be hitting the big screen this summer. As pre-sale tickets start going onsale around the world, the excitement for the film is growing on an international scale.
In China, the posters for the upcoming film depict a few fan-favorite Pokemon, all surrounded by neon light silhouettes that match their outlines. Pikachu's poster features the adorable electric mouse surrounded by a yellow silhouette, reminiscent of his signature lightening bolt. Other Pokemon included in the international posters include Charizard, Psyduck, Mr. Mime, Bulbasaur and Jigglypuff.
The live action designs of these Pokemon have been hotly debated online, but many still seem to be excited about seeing Detective Pikachu. Even though the film is still a month away from release, a sequel is already reportedly being discussed.
In trailers for the film, classic Pokemon like Squirtle, Eevee and Mewtwo have already appeared, and several more will likely appear in the actual movie once it's released.
Directed by Rob Letterman from a script written by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, Detective Pikachu stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe and the voice of Ryan Reynolds. The film opens in theaters on May 10.
