Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) is one of anime/manga's longest-running series, and the franchise is about to hit an impressive milestone; its 25th feature film is set to premiere next year. A new trailer provides a sneak peek of that movie, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween.

Alongside teasing intense action and mystery, the trailer, which was posted on Twitter, showcases Yugo Kanno's new arrangement of Detective Conan's iconic theme. "The pressure of being in charge of a nationally popular series that is loved by so many people kept me up at night, but I was able to complete the soundtrack with a lot of advice from the staff who have worked on the Detective Conan series many times," Kanno explained in a statement translated by Crunchyroll. "The tune that was particularly difficult to arrange was the main theme."

"In order not to disappoint everyone's expectations, I arranged it with the utmost respect for the original. After receiving advice from Katsuo Ohno-sensei (the theme's original composer), I made revisions and received the OK, which made me feel happy, as if I had received the official endorsement," he continued.  "I learned once again the power of the main theme composed by Ohno-sensei, which instantly brings you into the world of Conan the moment the tune is played in the movie."

TMS Entertainment, which has animated many of the previous Detective Conan films, is producing The Bride of Halloween. The new movie is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka (Haikyuu!!) and written by Takahiro Ōkura (Lupin the 3rd Part 6).

Many voice actors from other Detective Conan projects are reprising their roles for the upcoming film, including Minami Takayama as the titular teenage detective, Rikiya Koyama as Kogorō Mōri, Toru Furuya as Tōru Amuro and Wakana Yamazaki as Ran Mōri.

The new movie is just one of many exciting developments for the Detective Conan franchise in 2021. Earlier this year, the manga series by Gosho Aoyama passed two notable milestones; it sold a quarter of a billion copies worldwide, making it the fourth best-selling manga of all time behind Dragon Ball, Golgo 13 and One Piece, and it published its 100th volume. The English dub of Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet, the 24th movie in the franchise, premiered this year at Anime NYC.

Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween will premiere in Japan on April 15, 2022. While the movie has been already licensed by Alfa Pictures for distribution in Spain, it has yet to be picked up by a North American distributor.
