Details about the upcoming big-screen "Power Rangers" reboot have emerged -- and much of it seems very familiar while others areas are quite different.

Heroic Hollywood brings us the report; however, sources on the information are unconfirmed, so take all of it with a couple grains of putty patroller salt.

The film features many plot points from the original series: Zordon and company imprison -- or in this case detonate a black hole onto -- Rita Repulsa; the would-be Rangers are named Jason, Billy, Kimberly, Zack and Trini; and power coins play a part. Also, according to the characters description, these teens definitely have attitude.

As mentioned some things are different: Zordon and Alpha 5 do not chose the Rangers but instead the power coins bond with them; the aforementioned black hole bomb actually sends Rita and Zordon forward in time 65 million years to present day; and no mention of Zords thus far.

The description also mentions the characters' ages, which are appropriately around the 16 years old mark, and that Rita's plans to, similarly to the first "Power Rangers" adventure, reform Goldar -- although in this version she needs literal gold to do so.

It's Morphin' Time for the new "Power Rangers" on January 13, 2017.
