Arthur Adams has been poring over hyper-detailed pages of comic art for decades, and still packs the power to wow fans with his meticulous renditions, which is exactly what he did when he shared his inked, uncolored cover to "Guardians of the Galaxy" #5 on his Facebook page.

The black-and-white iteration of the cover draws extra focus on the artist's command of textures. Against a backdrop of Rocket's fired bullet casings, the Thing's rocky hide, Groot's earthy bark, Gamora's mesh suit, and Star-Lord's unkempt stubble all look especially standout when stripped of distracting hues. Not that the colored version is anything to scoff at.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" #5, written by Brian Michael Bendis with interior artwork by Valerio Schiti, is scheduled to hit both brick-and-mortar and digital comic shops February 10, 2016. Original Adams work can be purchased on the artist's website.
