Destruction Rains Down In 'Independence Day: Resurgence' Super Bowl Spot

If the standard protocol for an action movie sequel is to try and top what the first one did, 20th Century Fox's "Independence Day: Resurgence" just delivered its thesis statement.

Director Roland Emmerich's original '90s hit was known for its early pioneering use of CG to blow up the White House and other notable landmarks. This time out, the alien invaders are taking out whole cities as an all-star cast including original stars Jeff Goldblumb and Bill Pullman as well as franchise newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher stand by and watch in terror in a Super Bowl spot you can watch right here:

Taking place 20 years after the events of the original movie, "Independence Day: Resurgence" arrives in theaters June 24, 2016.
