One of the cult classic favorite video games from the past decade and a half is THQ's Destroy All Humans!. Next year, the inaugural game in the franchise is getting an enhanced remake for current-gen consoles.

At E3, THQ Nordic and new developer Black Forest Games unveiled the first gameplay footage from the fan-favorite franchise. The video shows the return of series protagonist Cryptosporidium-137, nicknamed Crypto, arriving on Earth on a mission to harvest human brain stems. We see destroying a farm in the American countryside in his flying saucer before taking on the military.

The original Destroy All Humans! was developed by Pandemic Studios and released in 2005 for the original Xbox and PlayStation 2. The game received a full sequel the following year, and two subsequent spinoffs, the last of which, Destroy All Humans! Path of Furon, released in 2009 for the Xbox 360.

The upcoming remake rebuilds the original game from the ground up rather than simply updating the visuals for modern consoles. As such, Black Forest Games has also incorporated unused concepts from the original game into the enhanced reboot.
