The game that started the entire Souls-like trend of brutally difficult action RPGs and made From Software a household name, Demon's Souls, has made a triumphant return in Bluepoint Games' hauntingly beautiful remake for the Playstation 5. But beyond a few UI touch-ups, minor balancing tweaks, and a newly arranged soundtrack, not much has changed in the gameplay side of things since the original game's modest Playstation 3 debut.

This means that Bluepoint has faithfully retained the original challenge that made the game a cult classic, and now every enemy and boss looks just as menacing and deadly as they always really were. Perhaps chief among these memorable bosses to receive the next-gen makeover is the Flamelurker, the fiery beast of the Tunnel City who is just as powerful and as it was way back in 2009.

Guardian of the Armor Spider Archstone, the Flamelurker is a hulking brute of burning hatred, its origins rather vague and wrapped in shadow, unlike its inflamed, spiky body. It establishes its threat level incredibly quickly, easily crushing massive stone pillars showcasing its superhuman strength while also demonstrating great speed and agility. As its name implies, the creature is also capable of emitting devastating amounts of fiery explosions, even leaving behind many footprints lit aflame.

Despite the frightful danger the Flamelurker presents to many players with its strength, speed, and dangerous area-of-effect fire attacks, the creature is extremely weak to magic. Melee users should use magic weapons they are proficient in using. Alternatively, melee players can apply the Sticky White Slime item on a weapon as this will add magic damage on top of the weapon's default damage output.

Melee users should also heavily consider raising their fire resistance, either by using a Flame Resistance Ring or wearing multiple other items naturally resistant to fire damage. To attain maximum damage output, melee players should directly face the Flamelurker as much as possible while also keeping an eye out for any charged attacks to block or dodge. Beyond that, however, is making sure not to get hit; it would also be ideal to make sure the player's armor doesn't hinder rolling very much.

Magic users are more likely to have a much easier time dealing with the Flamelurker because of its severe kryptonite-like weakness to soul magic. Spells such as Soul Arrow and Soul Ray do high damage against the creature, and so long as the player plays keep-away for the whole fight, the Flamelurker will eventually fall to the sheer might of the player's magical attacks. It should also go without saying that fire magic does next to nothing to bring the monster's health down.

Whether the player is a magic-user, focused on melee or perhaps a combination of both, these tips and tricks should be enough for any Demon's Souls newcomer in overcoming this inflammatory obstacle. Defeating the Flamelurker will drop the Searing Demon Soul, which is worth 18,000 souls or can be brought to Blacksmith Ed for advanced forging.
