Yelling. Hiding. Running for his dear life. These are the traits that describe Zenitsu Agatsuma when he is awake and fully conscious. Zenitsu losing his control over his conscious body is an entirely different matter. From zero to hero, Zenitsu seems to be able to summon up every bit of his training to chop up demons like a pro. Usually taking them out with a single strike.
The dichotomy between his awake and his unconscious self has made him loved (and hated) in the Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) community and like everything we love we must make memes out of it. Let's take a look at some of the best memes about our boy Zenitsu.
10 The Truth About Women
If there is one thing on Zenitsu mind besides running for dear life, it is women. The young man was introduced into the series when trying to marry a random woman he ran into and he hasn't gotten any better since. Zenitsu only adding more women onto his list of potential partners ever since.
Which is exactly how we got this gem. In a moment that can only be described as temporary insanity caused by the lack of contact with girls, Zenitsu decides to scold both of his comrades and spew out an anatomy lesson while he is at it. He's technically not wrong, but he cannot but considered right as well.
9 The Scream, 2019 by Zenitsu
Time for some classical art memes. Loud screaming is Zenitsu's common state of being and this piece pokes fun at that fact. Replacing the man at the center of Edvard Munch's iconic piece with Zenitsu in a way that makes him look like he belongs. It is uncanny how well he blends into the famous painting.
Another thing to note is the expertly placed "TAAANJIRO!!!!" at the top left of the picture making it so that the viewer can not only see the meme but hear it as well. Don't tell me you didn't hear Zenitsu's favorite phrase when you read it up top.
8 Favoritism
It is no secret that Zenitsu has a soft spot for Nezuko. Then again, who doesn't? Though it is obvious that Zenitsu takes it a step further and is trying to form a relationship with the demon girl. It is just a shame for him that Sakonji Urokodaki's hypnotism has him currently family-zoned by her.
Still, that does not mean that Nezuko cannot enjoy the... um... perks of being the center of Zenitsu's affection. In a comic that seems like it would be right at home in the anime, it demonstrates just how quickly Zenitsu's attitude might change when Nezuko is involved.
7 Guess I'll Die
Zenitsu is basically a doormat when awake and aware of his surrounds. Usually, the type to cling to others and run away instead of taking any difficulties head-on, when backed into a corner he seems to resign himself to his fate. He seems to be steadily getting better the more time he spends with Tanjiro and the crew but his common response to adversity still happens to be "Oh no!" instead of "I have to do something!"
So it is only fitting that our yellow-haired demon slayer would take his turn at the center of the popular "guess I'll die" meme. He seems right at home resigning himself to death in the picture.
6 He Panic Attack
The "guess I'll die" isn't the only popular meme that Zenitsu has stumbled his way into, the "He protect. He Attack. He..." is another one to find our faint-hearted friend. Putting his usually frightened state front and center, this memes makes fun of the fact that Zenitsu is constantly one trouble away from a panic attack.
More often than not he is the one step away from a panic attack whenever they encounter a demon. Too often too frightened to do anything but be caught in a panic-induced hysteria at the sight of anything remotely scary until he loses consciousness and becomes a badass. The young man more often useful asleep than he is awake.
5 In Defense of Sword Art Online
One of the defining moments of Tanjiro's first meeting with Zenitsu is the look of disgust he gives him at his failed attempt to woo and marry the random girl he was bothering. Tanjiro staring at him as one would look at a piece of garbage. Here it has been repurposed for something else. Though, whether someone likes Sword Art Online or not, I'm sure they can relate.
I'm sure everyone has experienced expressing an unpopular opinion among a group and getting flak for it. If the silence isn't enough to make you feel like a pariah, the look on everyone's face is bound to do so.
4 Wholesome
Now for something a bit more wholesome. Zenitsu is constantly trying to make himself look good to the ladies, so it isn't hard to believe he would try and get some massive brownie points by saying something like this. Whether he means it or not though is an entirely different story...
Still, it is nice to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that the sentiment is sincere. He does have a good amount of redeeming traits, so here's hoping he can live up to those words in the future of the show.
3 Masochist
Is he a masochist or is he just grinning and bearing it for other reasons? Regardless, Zenitsu does seem to enjoy the simultaneous Figure Four Leg Lock and two Arm Bar submissions the girls are putting him through. Whether or not this is a clue to some hidden masochism is anyone's guess.
What it does prove though is that Zenitsu is willing to push past the pain to enjoy some contact with girls. The young man going on a tirade about how the trio's training with Shinobu's pupils is a Godsend because they get to spend time with the girls.
2 Same Voice Actor
Acting is an amazing talent, isn't it? If done properly it lets someone be anything and anyone at any moment. From being a complete and loud coward like Zenitsu at one moment to being a sadistic villain like Dabi from My Hero Academia the next.
Still it hard to believe that one man could pull off two completely different characters so well, that is until they take a look at Hiro Shimono's IMDb page. Right there in the text, he has credit for doing both Zenitsu and Dabi's voice along with several other acting roles in various anime and games.
1 Netflix
Recently, Netflix has gotten some flack for its adaptations of anime. Namely their critically panned Death Note movie and for changing key lines in their English dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion. So the fanbase has made it their mission to never let them live it down.
Here we have an example of how casting for a live-action adaptation of Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) by Netflix might go. As one would expect, it doesn't look all that great.
