Demon Slayer is shown to have various families among the Demon Slayers, ones that are bonded by blood and their feelings of love, trust, and loyalty toward one another. One such family is the Ubuyashiki Family, which is headed by the 97th leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki.

The other members of his family usually refer to him as Oyakata-sama, which is an extremely respectful term in Japanese, showing the love and devotion he commands from his family members. Apart from Kagaya, the other family members include Hinaki Ubuyashiki, Nichika Ubuyashiki, Kiriya Ubuyashiki, and Kanata Ubuyashiki. For those who want to know more about this family but didn’t know where to look, below are 10 hidden facts about them.

10 Kagaya Is A Tactful Person

Kagaya is a tactful person

People like Kagaya are the kind who never let their true emotions show on their faces or in their language. Their demeanor is gentle and calm, and they speak in a fashion that enraptures other people into listening intently to them. It is his ability to balance and weigh every word that he says which allows him to captivate people as brash as Sanemi Shinazugawa, or as passive as Muichiro Tokito.

9 His Disease Is Because Of The Original Demon

As all fans will know, Kagaya is battling a very unique disease. However, what they don’t know is that this disease is actually a curse that has been handed down to every passing generation.

8 The Family Has Heightened Levels Of Instinct

This instinct is again something that is passed down in the Ubuyashiki family. The best example of this instinct would be when Kagaya was able to instinctively know that decapitation wouldn’t work on Muzan since the only weakness he has is the sun.

He was also able to foresee the deaths of Daki and Gyutaro. He was also able to understand that Muzan would be the one responsible for the final battle between the Twelve Kizuki and the Demon Slayer Corps.

7 Nichika Is An Ordinary Human

As one of Kagaya’s older daughters, one would expect her to have extraordinary abilities, like her father. However, physically and mentally, Nichika is simply an ordinary human being. Aside from her heightened levels of instinct, this soft-spoken girl has nothing else to boast about when it comes to powerful abilities.

6 Kiriya Eventually Succeeds Kagaya

Despite his appearance, Kiriya Ubuyashiki is the only son of Kagaya. Like his siblings, he is gentle and soft-spoken and has a history of illnesses. After his father dies—in the manga, at least—it is shown that he succeeds him as the head of the Ubuyashiki family. This is also when his garments undergo a change and he starts wearing a black kimono quite similar to that of his father’s.

5 He Displays Leadership Qualities After Losing His Family

Instead of giving in to loss and sorrow, as was expected of him, Kiriya showed a new side to fans. After the death of his family members, he did not waste any time to mourn their deaths. He immediately assumed his position as a leader of the Demon slayer Corps. He starts keeping tabs of the attacks happening against Muzan and his minions.

4 Kiriya Disbands The Demon Slayers Corps

This is yet another manga-only fact. In the final chapter of the Demon Slayer manga, this takes place three months after Muzan has been defeated.

Tanjiro is recovering from his wounds from the battle, and parts of his body face bear permanent damage. Kiriya is right by his side. As the leader of the Demon Slayers Corps, he makes the tough decision of disbanding the organization, since their objective has been completed.

3 He Has An Extraordinary Memory

This is a revelation that is made during the Infinity Castle arc in the manga. The castle changes its interiors often in order to confuse people inside it. However, Kiriya is able to instantly memorize all possible combinations of the castle and is able to recreate a map accurately to help the Hashira.

2 He Has A Cursed Life Span

As mentioned before, Kagaya suffers a curse because of his connection with the “Original Demon.” However, another curse that was passed down to the men of his family was the curse of a short life span which dictated that male family members wouldn't live much longer than 30. However, after Muzan died, the curse was lifted, and Kiriya lived on to be at least 100 years old.

1 Kanata Has An Emotional Side That Few Have Seen

Kanata is shown to be an emotionally distant girl, maintaining a stoic façade throughout. For example, when it came to discussing the fatal exam she gave, she spoke of them as if they were no big deal. However, fans are given small peeks into her soft nature from time to time. One time where she openly displayed her emotions was when her family died. She cried openly and mourned their death in a surprisingly normal manner.
