Tanjiro had to go through the Final Selection exam in order to become a full-fledged demon slayer. Success was determined by surviving in a controlled area that is rife with bloodthirsty demons. While Tanjiro was there, he encountered a huge and terrifying demon chasing down another candidate.
For a while, Tanjiro was frozen in fear at the mere sight of this monstrosity, but he overcame his fear and put himself in harm's way in order to save the boy. Albeit the person he saved still didn't survive the exam, Tanjiro was deeply sorry when he realized it.
9 Tanjiro Was Dedicated To Finding A Missing Girl
Tanjiro's first mission as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps was to slay the demon responsible for the abduction of girls in a certain town. When he got there, he ran into someone whose fiancé had been taken by the demon. With the information he received, he worked all day until nightfall, determined to find the demon.
When Tanjiro found the demon, it was already too late as the girl in question had already been devoured. Despite that, Tanjiro did his best to save its new captive and protect the people around him as he battled the demon. As he fought, Tanjiro was able to retrieve a memento for the bereaved.
8 Tanjiro Stopped A Newly Turned Demon From Devouring An Innocent Person
Tanjiro had just finished a mission when he came to a town that was more advanced than he expected. All the hustle and bustle going on in the crowded streets was too much for Tanjiro to handle. As he sat down to eat his meal, he identified the scent of the demon that killed his family.
Tanjiro gave chase and found the demon responsible, Muzan Kibutsuji. In an effort to divert attention from himself, Muzan stealthily turned a passerby into a demon, and immediately, the demon bit his companion. Tanjiro had to forgo a confrontation with Muzan to save the injured and stop the demon from taking any innocent lives.
7 Tanjiro Granted The Mother Spider Demon A Merciful Death
Deep in the Natagumo Mountain resided a makeshift family of demons. The mother spider demon used spiders to attach threads to the demon slayers who ventured into the mountain. She controlled them and made them slaughter each other.
In a rage, the mother spider demon killed the ones that were still alive after she failed to use them to kill Tanjiro and Inosuke. Both demon slayers combined their skills to destroy her most powerful puppet, and Tanjiro closed in on the mother spider demon. Sensing that she was in agony and yearned for death, Tanjiro granted her a painless death.
6 Tanjiro Fought As Hard As He Could To Protect The Passengers Of The Mugen Train
The Mugen Train incident is one the anime community won't forget in a hurry. The story that took place on the train put fans on a rollercoaster of emotions. Tanjiro and his friends met the powerful and energetic Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku.
While on the train, Lower Moon 1, Enmu, put the passengers in a deep sleep where they dreamed of the fulfillment of their deepest desire. Tanjiro awoke, however, and found Enmu atop the train. Tanjiro fought him and defeated him, but Enmu had already fused with the train. Tanjiro had to stand his ground until his friends woke up.
5 Tanjiro Saved Koinatsu From Daki
Tanjiro infiltrated a house of courtesans to dig up information about a demon in the Entertainment District. The house he infiltrated had an Oiran named Koinatsu, a kind and gentle woman who was about to get married to a rich man. Daki, the demon lurking in the Entertainment District, came to devour Koinatsu before she left.
However, Tanjiro picked up on her scent and rushed in to save her. Tanjiro found himself face-to-face with Daki, an Upper-Rank demon, and he was gripped by fear. Despite that, Tanjiro fought and freed Koinatsu from Daki's grasp.
4 Tanjiro Was Able To Save Hinatsuru From Gyutaro
Gyutaro turned out to be the true holder of the Upper Rank 6 title, and he was quite the fearsome opponent. He was a relentless fighter with strength and speed on par with Tengen Uzui, a Hashira. During the battle, one of Tengen's wives, Hinatsuru, offered assistance by firing a barrage of poisoned kunai at Gyutaro.
Tengen's wife was able to help the Demon Slayers gain the upper hand for a brief moment, but as soon as Gyutaro recovered, there was hell to pay. He was able to catch Hinatsuru and was about to kill her when Tanjiro swooped in and rescued her.
3 Tanjiro Went Into A Rage When Daki Killed Innocent People
Tanjiro continued to fight Daki in the Entertainment District, but she proved to be a tough opponent to beat. She was able to keep Tanjiro on his toes throughout their battle and things got worse after she powered up even more.
Tanjiro and Daki's battle attracted the attention of the residents of the district, which infuriated Daki. She unleashed an attack and killed lots of people. Tanjiro was furious beyond belief, and with his righteous anger, he turned the tables on Daki. He fought ferociously and came very close to decapitating Daki.
2 Tanjiro Saved Kiyoshi From Kyogai
Tanjiro encountered Zenitsu on his way to his next mission, and together they proceeded to the demon Kyogai's mansion. While there, they encountered some children who had lost their brother, Kiyoshi, to the demon.
Tanjiro and Zenitsu entered the mansion and before too long, Tanjiro located Kiyoshi. He had bravely survived on his own in the mansion. Tanjiro promised to protect him, and he proceeded to fight Kyogai and defeat him by himself. Afterward, Tanjiro located the exit to the mansion and took the kids to safety.
1 Tanjiro Gave It Everything He Had To Decapitate Gyutaro
Gyutaro lived up to his title as an Upper-Rank demon till the very end. The battle against him proved that the Upper-Rank demons won't be defeated so easily, so there are bound to be numerous casualties in future fights. Gyutaro was able to overwhelm the joint efforts of Tanjiro and Tengen and nearly killed them both.
Luckily, Tengen still had the strength to unleash his ultimate technique against Gyutaro. Their final bout was flashy, to say the least, and Tanjiro was able to see an opening to go for Gytaro's head. Despite being stabbed through his lower jaw, Tanjiro summoned every ounce of strength he had and decapitated Gyutaro.
