The roster of beloved Demon Slayer characters continues to expand as the series explores the Entertainment District in Season 2. It is hard for fans to believe that the latter half of Season 2 could live up to an arc that was animated into a canonical film, but Tengen Uzui does a great job of filling in the gap left by Rengoku.

The Entertainment District arc that follows after Rengoku's sacrifice places Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke in the capable hands of Tengen Uzui. The Sound Hashira may seem a little overbearing at first, but by the time fans see his musical score technique onscreen it is clear that Tengen will go down as one of the flashiest and most well-spoken Demon Slayer characters of all time.

10 "Do You Really Think I'd Fall Victim To One Of Your Pissant Headbutts?" E1 37:10

The quote that follows immediately after Tengen's introduction is a call back to first time Tanjiro met the Hashira. During this initial meeting, the protagonist surprised the highest-ranking members of the Demon Slayer Corps by landing a headbutt on Sanemi Shinazugawa.

After failing to land a headbutt on Tengen, the Sound Hashira makes his introduction to Tanjiro in the flashiest way possible. "I'm Lord Tengen Uzui, Former Shinobi. A flashy man renown around these parts. Do you really think I'd fall victim to one of your pissant headbutts?"

9 "Who Cares If You Don't Acknowledge Me? You Little Bottom Feeder! Did Your Brain Matter Explode Or What?" E1 37:43

Tengen's introduction in Demon Slayer was full of exclamatory statements that made it clear just how flagrant this new Hashira was. When Tanjiro returned to the Butterfly Mansion just in time to catch Tengen attempting to kidnap Aoi, the protagonist refused to recognize his superior as a Hashira. Tengen's response is as flashy as it is hilarious.

8 "Listen Up. I Am A God." E2 0:18

After saving Aoi from Tengen and volunteering themselves in her stead, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are faced with pure unadulterated flashiness. Demon Slayer's Tengen doesn't hesitate before demanding respect from his inferiors and calling himself a god.

The God of Flashiness and The God of Festivals are fitting monikers for the man intent on smoking out the demons hiding inside the entertainment district. It's also a fan-favorite Demon Slayer quote.

7 "Sound Breathing. First Form. Roar!" E5 3:52

The Sound Breathing Techniques that Tengen mastered on his way up the ranks of the Demon Slayer Corps combine flashy swordsmanship, trained breathing, and an arsenal of traditional shinobi weaponry.

Tengen's breathing technique is clearly an original style created with the intention of enhancing the skills of Tengen Uzui alone. Ironically, the flashiest of Tengen's breathing techniques doesn't make it onscreen. Fans can experience Tengen shouting out his first technique and slamming his powerful arms into the ground before the camera cuts away and the sound of thunder erupts from where he stood.

6 ". . .To Be Blunt In My Flashy Way, You Three Are More Important To Me. So Don't Die On Me." E5 19:43

Tengen Uzui Wives Demon Slayer

This quote is endearing to Demon Slayer fans; Tengen even describes himself as flashy.  This scene from the fifth episode depicts Tengen expressing his feelings to his three wives.

"The order that lives should go in is flashy and clear cut in my mind. First, you three. Second, law-abiding citizens. And finally, me. As a Demon Slayer it goes without saying that I'll also protect the public leading their nonchalant, drab lives. . .but to be blunt in my flashy way, you three are more important to me. So don't die on me."

5 "Starting Now, Things Are Going To Get Real Flashy!" E5 21:26

Tengen Uzui announces things are about to get flashy in Demon Slayer

This decree from Tengen Uzui takes place immediately after a flashback that offers up background information on the polygamous relationship between Tengen and his three wives. Fans appreciate Ufotable's expertise with integrating flashbacks into Demon Slayer. Audiences are able to learn more about Tengen's past through watching the flashbacks.

This scene also sets the stage for Tengen to join Tanjiro in his battle with Daki in the following episode. This quote is packed with layer upon layer of flashiness yet manages to fit into the setting created by Ufotable thanks to Tengen's flashy personality.

4 "First, Worship And Praise Me! We'll Discuss That Other Thing Later!" E6 11:13

Tengen _ Dermon Slayer Season 2 _ Entertainment District Arc

After saving the captives trapped inside Daki's belt, Tengen took a moment to check in with his wives to be certain of their safety. Inosuke, on the other hand, quickly recognized that the belt had not been defeated, but rather retreated back to the surface.

After drawing Tengen's attention to the belt's retreat, the Sound Hashira did what many believed impossible. He out-screamed Inosuke and demanded that the King of the Mountains submit the appropriate amount of praise before continuing the mission at hand. It is in these small moments when Tengen demands the right to be flashy that fans fall in love with the God of Festivals.

3 "Well, Yeah. I'm A Flashy, Glamorous Ladies' Man, So That's A No Brainer. And I Even Have Three Wives No Less. E7 19:37

Tengen Uzui from Demon Slayer holding his Nichirin Cleavers.

The Entertainment District arc that makes up the majority of Demon Slayer Season 2 sees the flashiest Hashira matched up against the creepiest demon. Tengen versus Gyutaro is an iconic battle between two of the most powerful beings in the Demon Slayer mythos.

Like the battle between Rengoku and Akaze, this fight is incredibly well-animated. Throughout his battle with Gyutaro, Tengen's sharp tongue and cinematic flashiness add to the entertainment value of the battle. This quip from Tengen is the perfect example of Tengen's personality and takes place at the outset of their battle.

2 "Wanna See Me Dance? I'm So On Fire I Could Eat 100 Bowls Of Tempura Udon! In A Flashy Way That Is." E8 7:00

Tengen Uzui _ Sound Hashira _ Demon Slayer Season 2

Although Demon Slayer's Tengen is quiet for the first few minutes of his fight with Gyutaro, his blood quickly begins to boil in the heat of battle. After being poisoned by Gyutaro, Tengen's speech takes on a proud edge of bravado. This bravado inspires Tanjiro to dig his feet in and work with the Sound Hashira to take down Gyutaro.

1 "I've Finished My Musical Score Technique! We're Going For The Win!" E10 15:11

Tengen & Tanjiro _ Demon Slayer

One of the final lines uttered by Tengen during his battle with Gyutaro introduces his most powerful technique. Musical Score takes in the information that Tengen has gathered during his battle and allows him to read his opponents movements as if they are notes on a musical score sheet.

By stopping his own heart and sacrificing a hand, Tengen slows the progression of Gyutaro's poison long enough for his musical score technique to complete itself.  Tengen played dead long enough to download all of Gyutaro's combat techniques and habits. After restarting his heart, Tengen mounted the flashiest comeback of all time by defeating an upper rank demon with the help of three fledgling Kanoe.
