Tengen Uzui and Kyojuro Rengoku are two Hashiras in Demon Slayer. As two of the highest-ranking members of the Demon Slayer Corps, they possess skills that can rival Upper-Rank demons. Rengoku was in the spotlight for the Mugen Train arc, while Tengen Uzui is being showcased for the Entertainment District arc.

Uzui is the second strongest overall Hashira, while Rengoku's strengths were even recognized by Upper-Rank demons like Akaza who wanted to turn him into a demon to enhance those strengths. Since Uzui is the Sound Hashira, while Rengoku is the Flame Hashira, each one possesses their own strengths.

10 Uzui's Experience In Shinobi Training Gave Him Lots Of Skills

Because he came from a long lineage of shinobi, Uzui possesses many skills that are exclusive to ninjas. He underwent brutal training that killed almost all of his siblings. Despite this, his skills are unmatched. For example, Uzui is so stealthy that he doesn't disrupt the natural flow of the air or make any noise.

He is also resistant to poison, as shown during his fight with Gyutaro. His pain tolerance is also quite impressive, as seen when he continued fighting even though he had many injuries.

9 Rengoku Came From A Lineage Of Flame Hashira

Rengoku uses a flame breathing technique

Rengoku came from a family lineage of Flame Hashira. Inevitably, this gave him the training and inherent skills needed to become the strongest of his generation. Rengoku mastered Flame Breathing and came up with five different forms of the skill.

The strength of his Breathing Style was proven when he easily defeated one of the Lower Rank demons before putting up a good fight against one of the strongest Upper-Rank demons, Akaza. His Flame Breathing only enhances his extraordinary swordsmanship in battle.

8 Uzui's Enhanced Hearing Is Versatile

As the Sound Hashira, Uzui has enhanced hearing. It gives him the ability to hear noises from far away and underground. This is good logistically because this helps him search for allies who got lost along the way. This also is excellent for combat because the enemy can't land a sneak attack on him.

Echolocation is a more precise execution of this ability and he uses it when looking for lost allies or trying to find the location of his enemies. He can even discern the number of people inside underground tunnels. Musical Score works alongside his Sound Breathing, which allows him to read the attack pattern of enemies like musical notes to understand their habits.

7 Rengoku Can Sense Demons With His Extrasensory Perception

Much like Tanjiro, Rengoku can sense the presence of demons. He can even discern if the demon is an Upper-Rank or not. This perception also grants Rengoku the ability to accurately estimate how quickly a demon can regenerate and what each demon's weakness is.

His perceptive skills also allow him to detect Blood Demon Arts and avoid being affected by them. This ability can even be used to save lives, such as when Rengoku immediately recognized that Tanjiro had a torn blood vessel after being stabbed on the train.

6 Uzui Has A Unique Style Of Swordsmanship

As a Hashira, one of Uzui's skills is, obviously, swordsmanship. However, he uses two Nichirin Cleavers. He swings them around like nunchucks and surprises people with how he can control them, such as in the battle against Gyutaro when he held onto one of the cleavers at the very tip of the blade. When he spins the blades on the chain that connects them, it serves as an excellent blocking strategy because of the constant, quick rotation of the blades.

5 Rengoku's Speed Is A Force To Be Reckoned With

Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira in Demon Slayer

It's a given that any Hashira will possess immense speed and agility, but Rengoku's speed is unlike anyone else's. Rengoku is so fast that he can cause minor earthquakes. He literally threw the Mugen Train off its' tracks because of how quick he was running.

Rengoku is also able to decapitate demons before they even realize it happened. This speed is precisely why he could hold off Akaza for as long as he did. His speedy reaction time was nearly impenetrable.

4 Uzui Is The Fastest Runner Among The Hashira

Uzui's speed can easily be confused for a teleportation ability. Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu could barely perceive how quick Uzui runs, much less able to keep up with him. When he decapitated Daki, he was so fast in his movements that Daki barely understood what was happening.

Although speed is a common trait amongst Hashira, Uzui's speed is dizzying and unmatched by anyone else. His endurance is another component of this, as he was able to dodge many kunai knives being thrown at him quickly — and even when he was hit, he didn't flinch.

3 Rengoku's Willpower Is Unmatched

Because of a promise made to his deceased mother, Rengoku had to spark unshakable willpower within himself to live up to it. Rengoku is not shaken easily, as seen during his battle with Akaza. Even though he lost his eye and had fatal wounds, Rengoku didn't stop fighting the Upper-Rank demon until he literally couldn't.

He was determined to protect everybody else, no matter the cost. Although all Hashira possess a certain amount of unshakable willpower, Rengoku's fighting spirit never stopped burning even after he was defeated.

2  Uzui's Flamboyance Is A Superpower

Tengen Uzui and the Muscular Mice in Demon Slayer

All the Hashiras seen thus far seem to have a strange personality quirk of their own, but Uzui knows that he's eccentric. He always wants to be seen as flamboyant and everything he does must be flashy. This becomes a nuisance for other characters, such as when he demands that Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu become dogs or monkeys if he orders them to.

However, his flamboyance is also a strength. Deep down, he has a lot of insecurities and may even have an inferiority complex. By maintaining his eccentric bravado, he can hide his weaknesses, and by standing strong in the face of daunting enemies, Uzui can continue fighting.

1 Rengoku Strictly Lives By His Own Moral Code

Rengoku's introduction Demon Slayer

A key element of Rengoku's personality is his enthusiastic, loud nature. He expresses a genuine passion for his job as a Hashira. Above all else, he believes that the strong are obligated to protect the weak. Though he loathes Demons, he recognizes Nezuko as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps because he witnessed Nezuko put her own life in danger to protect the lives of everyone else on the train.

He was a very compassionate mentor for Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke because of the moral code he avidly stands by. Beneath this enthusiasm is an encyclopedia of tactical knowledge, but the idea of protecting the innocent drives him through every battle.
