10 His Honesty
Tanjiro's admirable traits and values were evident from the very first episode. The mangaka paid great attention to Tanjiro because the main character is at the center of things, and this level of details was carried over to the anime's opening episodes.
As the series goes on, fans will obviously look to Tanjiro more and more and thus, he needs to be an example to the audience. One of Tanjrio's greatest quality is his honesty not just towards others but himself as well. While admittedly simple compared to what follows, this is an important trait that can leave a good or bad impression. In Tanjiro's case, his honesty leaves a really nice impression in the span of a single episode.
9 He's A Protective Brother
Tanjiro loved his family dearly and he was supporting his family. He was selling charcoal in order to keep his family fed. However, his family was almost wiped out by the demons. Nezuko was the only survivor but, she wasn't spared entirely as she was turned into a demon.
In just one day, Tanjiro's life changed; he went from having a great family to only having a sister who wasn't human. However, Tanjiro continued to care for her and he set out to find a way of turning Nezuko back to normal.
8 He's Very Strong-Willed
No one likes a person who is indecisive and it applies in both the real and the fantasy world. Tanjiro is a strong-willed character and his will is infallible. He does not falter when he makes up his mind, successfully maintaining his will even through the most turbulent of times. It has been seen time and time again throughout the first season.
Tanjiro was hesitant to kill demons, but that was because he was incapable of taking a life, and it later changed when he went to join the Demon Slayer Corps.
7 He's A Great Friend
Tanjiro's good qualities make him an excellent friend and anyone can become friends with him... unless their name is Muzan. Tanjiro is not hesitant to help anyone and he feels extremely sad if he cannot help out his friend. Case in point: when Inosuke was batting the father of the Rui Family on his own, Tanjiro was overwhelmed by guilt that he could not help him out.
Also, Tanjiro was really insistent that Inosuke and Zenitsu should learn Full Breathing in order to become better fighters and capable of fighting stronger foes. He is a very dependable person and that is why he makes a very good friend.
6 He's Hilariously Oblivious To Romance
This particular trait is seen in a lot of shonen protagonists, so it's no surprise that Tanjiro shows signs of it as well. When he was talking to Kanao, he could not see that she had fallen for him.
Usually, it takes the characters just 80% of the series to realize that someone has fallen in love with them. That being said, Tanjiro will probably take a lot of time he realizes how Kanao feels for him. Hopefully, for the sake of the fans who like this ship, Tanjiro will realize this sooner than later.
5 He's Nice, Even To His Enemies
In the first few episodes, it was clear that Tanjiro is unable to resent anyone including demons. When he first encountered a demon, he was able to immobilize the demon with the help of an ax. However, Tanjiro couldn't bring himself to end the demon's life.
Another example is that time he faced the demon who killed Urokodaki's students. After beheading the demon, he felt sympathy towards the demon instead. These are just one of the many instances, and we're sure there'll be many more in the future.
4 He's Not Afraid Of Stronger Enemies
After receiving the training to become a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro has never shied away from facing demons. He has become one of the strongest newbies to join the Corps. Tanjiro has continued to face more and more dangerous foes.
In the first season, Tanjiro faced an ex-Demon Moon and then towards the end of the season, he faced Rui, who was one of the Demon Moons. He was able to fight against Rui and force him into a corner. In fact, Rui was only able to survive because he cut off his neck voluntarily.
3 He Always Speaks His Mind
Tanjiro has always made sure that he lets others know what he is thinking. He is not afraid to speak what he thinks and feels. Case in point, when Nezuko was being tested by the Pillars, Tanjiro did not care that he was in the presence of his superiors. Against better judgment, he immediately burst out and attacked one of the Pillars.
He tried several times to reassure the Pillars that his sister was harmless and that she would not attack any human being. However, the Pillars weren't swayed by his pleas and he was given a good thrashing by a couple of them.
2 He's Helpful To Everyone
Tanjiro has a helpful personality and thus, he always looks out for other people. In fact, he would set out to sell charcoal to people even when the weather was dangerously unpleasant. Time and again, he'd help others with small chores without asking to be paid for them.
Tanjiro's sense of smell is excellent and he has also put it to good use. His keen sense of smell helps Tanjiro to track down demons easily. Tanjiro's helpful nature has earned him a lot of fans.
