Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has no scarcity of characters. Right from humans to demons and everything in between, the anime has something to offer to everybody. One of the more interesting characters from the series is the demon, Tamayo.

Despite her sweet demeanor, she’s shown to be an exceptionally strong-willed and intelligent woman who is able to help Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko, fight the series’ primary antagonist, Muzan. However, the anime doesn’t do justice to this lady, seeing how a lot of her character arc was chopped in order to maintain the anime’s screen time. So what was left out in the anime?

10 Muzan Turned Her Into A Demon

Much like any other demon, Tamayo used to be a human being before she was turned into a demon. However, as a human, she faced a life-threatening ailment and was desperate for a cure. Muzan came to her, lying to her about her cure.

She trusted him and of course, Muzan’s idea of “curing” her was to turn her into a demon.

9 She Killed Her Own Family

As a human, Tamayo was a typical home-maker, much like many Japanese women of her time. She had a husband and children. When she turned into a demon, she lost all of her humanity, her emotions, and her memories.

As a result of that, she went on a killing rampage and not only killed her loved ones, but also a few innocent villagers from her village.

8 She Tried To Kill Muzan Once

It was clear Tamayo blamed and hated Muzan for what he did to her, which is why she once tried to kill him. This happened a few centuries ago when Tamayo was still a fairly new and weaker demon.

Her attempt failed, of course, since she was no match for Muzan’s intelligence and strength, as a result of which she became very docile.

7 She Was Muzan’s Subordinate

Part of the reason why Tamayo became very docile when in the presence of Muzan was because not only had he defeated her physically, but he also managed to break her spirit.

This was most evident when Yoriichi Tsugikuni went up against a fearsome battle with Muzan. Despite knowing Yoriichi was right, she simply stood there as a mute spectator, because she knew she could never win against Muzan.

Everything changed for Tamayo after a fateful battle. When she saw Yoriichi overpowering Muzan, she realized he may not be as powerful as he claimed to be.

Muzan was almost killed and Tamayo couldn’t hide the joy in her eyes, something that Yoriichi saw as well.

Yoriichi used to believe that every demon had to be killed, but he changed his mind once he saw how Tamayo responded to Muzan’s actions on the battlefield.

She was happy when she believed he was about to die and became extremely angry when she realized Muzan had managed to escape. Yoriichi realized she hated Muzan as much as he did, because of which he spared her life.

4 She Comes Up With An Antidote For Demon Infliction

This happens in the Swordsmith Village Arc in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. Tamayo is able to create an antidote for being a demon through the samples of blood she received by Daki, Gyutaro, and Kyogai.

She was able to successfully convert a demon into a human being. She used to update Tanjiro regularly about her progress, giving him hope about making Nezuko a human again.

3 She Infects Muzan With The Antidote

In Muzan’s penultimate battle, Tamayo is hell-bent on killing him. The only way she knows how is to weaken him by making him a mere mortal.

So she uses all her strength into punching her fist through his stomach, and inside her fist was the cure that she had created. Of course, Muzan started mutating and thus became weakened

2 She Is Willing To Die For Her Sins

Tamayo admits she’s killed innocent people, and Muzan uses that knowledge to manipulate her and guilt her into not resisting him.

She admits that she is a monster who has to pay for her crimes, and then shouts for the Demon Slayers to attack both of them so that both could die.

1 She Is Killed By Muzan

It was Muzan, however, who actually ended up killing her. She berates him when he has a hold of her body, and while he crushes her skull, she begs for her family.

He simply laughs and then kills her. Yushiro was able to sense her death because he flew into a rage as soon as she died.
